I understand that people are celebrating, but they have to understand that not everyone stays up that late, holiday or not.

I stayed up, but it wasn't because of the New Year. I decided to use that night to get a lot of stuff done. The things that kept me up until 2am included: getting a shower, filing the fafsa, getting the homework done for my next class even though the first day of class isn't until next week (its a retarded useless course and I want to get it all out of the way), cooking, and knowing that I didn't have to be at work until noon today. So I guess I ended up bringing in the New Year by getting a head start on it

I stayed up until midnight PST passed (3:00 AM here), although there really wasn't much to do after the new year came

I've stayed up past midnight for every year since ... well, I forgot when but it was long ago

I stay up past midnight every year for New Years. Most of the time, I'm just playing games or looking at stuff online, though there were some firecrackers around here.

I've been up at midnight for several years in a row now, especially since I used to finish work at that time.

(So yes, last year I was walking to the subway station when the ball dropped on TV. Fun.)

Yeah, I actually stayed at my mother's house until 12:30 AM. I usually stay up until 1 AM anyway, so it didn't bother me. I stay up at every new year rollover.
