To elaborate, the squid (Ikachan, originally from the game of the same name) was a decoration I temporarily added way back in 2007. People liked it enough that, over the years, a few attempts to remove him were met with much unhappiness, and he's become something of a minor mascot ever since.

He just kind of floats around.

Eh, it's even better. His idea of "security" was giving everybody a folder in /home ... except that none of the permissions were locked, so you could fairly easily write a small shell or even log in with SSH and have access to everybody's files, including passwords (for phpMyAdmin retrieval) and all kinds of things.

It was pretty sad.

Originally, this was the sequel to JUL 1, which occurred during Incarnation 3. All record of that was lost though, which is unfortunate, because Fireboard's untimely demise was hilarious.

This place was in fact called Just Us League 2 for quite a while, but before it became popular. Simply because the Just Us League was meant to be an elite group separate from the usual boards--back when 'the usual' meant a bunch of annoying dumb people who have never been allowed to stay here.

Of course, as it turned out, non-idiotic people constitute a far larger amount of people than the original 'Just Us', so it became more of just Jul, which I think also tied into it being founded near July or something.

I only know this mostly because before the splits I generally posted more on the JULs. And even now, a huge chunk of my posts are in hidden areas.

And I was one of the first people to register here, so, yeah.
