Didn't a lot of Funpic boards even change the copyright notice? Like not acknowledging the original name or any of the original coders?

Yea... they changed everything, even the copyright notice... which led to many hackings, IIRC

Although some people kept a note like "based on AcmlmBoard", some people didn't, and those boards were usually ones to get attacked

Why don't they just put the copyright on those boards? It's a lot easier than having an attack out of knowere, isn't it?

Ah yes, I remember when funpic boards would appear, then people would link to them on the main Acmlm board, and get frowned at.

Oh, oh! And back when all the board versions Acmlmboard was using was open. Yeah, that was a while ago.

Not that it matters, in my case I had to rewrite large portions of board code to make it safe from the many, maaany well known holes in it.

1.8a and 1.92 are still available for download, last I remember... but nobody really uses AcmlmBoard anymore (I prefer using SMF or MyBB for my sites )

I vaguely remember a list of AcmlmBoards years ago. In fact, I might have put my ill-fated MarioHacker Message Board on it.

Now, I guess word is out that AcmlmBoards are insecure

September was actually a great time to do it, but most people dropped out after hitting Anya syndrome, and some didn't have enough time to get that far.

The one thing that limited our last spree was the Jul server being slow because of bots

Hopefully our next spree won't be like that

There's a reason for that.

Unless you've hacked the board to behave differently, it is in bog-standard configuration horribly easy to break, hack, spam attack, etc. The few remaining working Acmlm boards that haven't been reconfigured probably don't want to advertise what they're running for board software.

I'm having burnout now as well. Actually, last night I got pretty sick of spreeing after a while and wanted to go to bed.

When I tried to create my own board system years ago, it got hacked pretty quickly.
