Simplicity v1.1
...

You know, not that I'm taking people down or anything but I honestly wonder about some of your guys' willpower in relation to the Internet these days. I wonder if you could take a several month outage like I did for 8 months and be able to endure it.

I'm serious. Do you think you'd have what it would take to give up the Internet for at least a full month? I don't think a lot of people here have the capacity to do it because they rely on it so much. Kinda makes you wonder how close it is to a drug at that point.

And hell, I use 56K at home. That'd freaking kill some of you I'm sure.

I just went through a four-day outage, and that was bad enough. Ironically, by the second day I was already doing random bullshit that didn't necessarily require an internet connection.

I went without internet for four weeks while on vacation. It wasn't too bad. Though I don't know if that counts because it was a vacation and I had no access anyway.

I'd just go back to what I was doing before I started being on the internet all the time.

Playing random video games until I'm too good at them.

I'd probably call my friends a lot more though, to keep up the level of communication.

On Saturday I got back from a week vacation (we rented a cottage) which meant I didn't have internet. It wasn't to bad but I don't think I can go much longer then that.

If I go a month without using my computer, it gets dusty and stops working.... but I've gone 3 months without internet before. I just watched TV and played video games.

Nope. Unfortunately its my only means of communication with anyone for that matter.

That may seem like a bad thing, but really, without Internet its pretty much just my family I can talk to, and dunno if you know the issues with that. =\

I'm honestly surprised I survived 8 months without it (6 months, technically, I didn't have my own often connection until I moved into my own place). Had withdrawal from it within the first week but once you get over that and get to things that take up your time a lot more then things become a lot easier, I notice.

Sounds weird saying it, but it's a lot easier on me than people realize.

Eh, I went two weeks.

Didn't really have any withdrawal, I'd just gotten a bit bored of playing the same games over and over again.

It doesn't help that I've got the same issue as whateverhisnameisthisweek13:

Back when I was still living with my parents, there'd have been no way I could manage even a week. But here with my grandparents, it's not as difficult.

I mean, I think I could probably live without it if it was actively not working without resorting to ridiculous measures like spending all my time in the library or something, but as long as the option's there it's rather difficult to resist...

I really can't live without it. I mean, I can go for a few days, but I would never be able to last an entire month.

Probably. The lack of Internet access doesn't mean the lack of a computer. My computer actually had some problem with connecting, so I went maybe a month or two without any Internet access. During this time, I also rarely used my computer.

Even if I didn't have access, I'd still use my computer; mainly for emulation or something. There's also a whole bunch of other crap that I could do.

And hell, I use 56K at home. That'd freaking kill some of you I'm sure.

I could probably live with it. I only started using DSL back in January...

I'm partially fused with Internet, so, no. It going out for a few hours is bad enough.

I've been without it for a couple weeks at a time, and the first few days are always hard. After that, I don't mind being without it so much.

If it is during the school year, I can live without it because I probably won't have time to go on the internet anyway. However, if it is during the middle of summer where I have nothing better to do, than I am in trouble.

Being without the Internet for a long period of time is doable, so long as I have other things to occupy my time (which I usually do). Being without a computer would be much tougher on me...
