Beaches are crowed here in summer, winter, season, when school is out, when tourists come down...I've masted the time in which I can go and no one will be there.

Beaches are usually empty down here, the natives got sick of going to the beach every day and now everyone rarely visits them.

Michigan is surrounded mostly by the Great Lakes and has around 11000 inland lakes, so there are many beaches. However, on the Great Lakes there are only like 2 months of the year when the water isn't hypothermia-inducing.

We're almost surrounded by water, but there are so many buildings that the beaches are pretty small.

Yeah, most of Michigan is rather sparsely populated. The areas with a lot of people are mostly in the south where there are fewer Great Lake coastlines. Metro Detroit touches Lake St. Clair (not a Great Lake but part of the Great Lakes system), where a lot of the rich people live

The Great Lakes are pretty big.

Well, in May hopefully I'll move to a city that actually touches an inlet of an ocean. So there.

They sure are, I don't even go to the beach during Winter here (some people do since it's still warm here, today it's at around 85F) because they're too cold

I used to go to the beach when I lived near one. I guess I got used to the cold.

Cause it's warmer than where they are from, I guess. If it isn't in the 80's, I won't go.

Well, Winter hear still brings us temperatures of over 90F some days, so going to the beach isn't so unorthodox. But the Scotland thing is just, wow ....

A lot of Canadians tend to visit here. They can't drive and they love the beaches. So many RV's....

That should be interesting to see. Most tourism we see here is from America, we know quickly because they either speak bad Spanish or with an accent or don't speak it at all...
