Are there any things about computers or programs that you find annoying?
I'll start off with non-game programs that remap typing keys to other functions. Like Firefox, with Backspace being Back, apostrophe being Quick Find, and the space bar being an unnecessary duplication of Page Down. Especially since one often types in a Web browser and the cursor can easily end up out of a typing area directing those functions incorrectly without the user noticing.
Also, not being able to remove the confirmation message for emptying the Recycle Bin. I'd say the bin itself is already confirmation.

You can turn off the confirmation message.
There's a checkbox in the recycling bin properties window.

I think that only gets rid of the one when you send the file to the Recycle Bin, not the one when you empty the Recycle Bin. I could be wrong.

Windows 7 not having the option to have the taskbar on multiple monitors, nor having different backgrounds.
I have a program for it, but still. I shouldn't need to. ____________________ |

Laptop keyboard that put Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down in a vertical line rather than the usual square formation. That fucks up movement keys in a few games.
Also, the positioning of the Windows key and the fact that it minimizes any active full-screen game when you were trying to hit Ctrl or Alt, without even pausing it.

New operating systems and their attempt to reinvent a perfectly fine thing. It took me 10 years just to finally accept Windows 95 (before I had plans to go back to Windows NT 3.51 just to bring back Windows 3.1's interface) and I'm sure as heck not gonna accept this new Vista/7 one.
Heck, I'd switch to Ubuntu instead if I can't make 7 look like a proper OS again.
7 replaced the Classic start menu with a far more useful one... but if you're talking about schemes... Windows Classic does exist. I'm a rather big fan of Aero, though.
As for annoyances? My damn Celeron bogging everything down. This comp is perfectly acceptable (2GB RAM, GeForce 9500GT, an okayish amount of storage) except for that thing. :|
Oh, and Opera crashing and breaking a lot for me. I get a lot of shit about it.
Joe: Wait, the eMacs do that? Is it easy to screw up? I've been looking at getting one of those, but now I'm possibly reconsidering...

While happily playing a fullscreen game...
HEY WINDOWS NEEDS TO RESTART TO INSTALL UPDATES!
I've made it stop doing this now, but it certainly was annoying.

I haven't touched anything related to that in opera or Firefox, except turning off smooth scrolling, since that is just uselessly slow at times, and it's the same on 2 computers, even with fresh installs.
I don't get why this happens. Supakitsune's layout is a REALLY big culprit of this (it actually bumps Firefox's CPU usage up for me, for whatever reason... oh god celeron) too, unfortunately. :/

The USB bus. My old laptop couldn't power 4 gamepads and I would need a powered hub. Just for that?!? I turned off the wi-fi which was internally connected to USB and I could then game without random disconnects.
My desktop would have horribly slow wi-fi and would randomly drop the connection. I recently installed a PCI card instead, and my internet connection now feels like coming out of dial-up, and has never lost a connection; I mean, it's only from here to the garage. |

I was super-happy to see some games accepting background input. Now I really can game and use the web on separate monitors without trouble.
Good point though; not every game is quite as configurable. |
