Paulguy's Post configuration
Basically what acmlm said.

But I also like to watch TV shows or movies or listen to whatever when I'm sleeping, so I just leave it go with a playlist while I'm trying to sleep. I turn the monitor off when I'm away or not watching anything.

I also leave the laptop on to host my Blockland dedicated server, which runs better in Windows than linux.

My laptop uses hardly any power even when it is on; if I need to take it somewhere, I put it into sleep mode (it can go 24+ hours in sleep mode and lose maybe only 15% of the battery's charge.) Otherwise it's always on. I take it off of AC power except at night (and when the battery is otherwise low) so that the battery stays in good shape.

My desktop is in the same room where I sleep, and the thing is loud as hell and there's a bright blue LED that shines through a translucent panel on the side. So I put it into hibernate mode (regular sleep mode doesn't disable the LED or the fan) at night or when I'm not using it. It only takes 3-4 seconds for it to wake up anyway.

Generally always on, since it does overnight backups and updates, plays music while I sleep, and sometimes serves as a high-powered alarm clock. If I'm going out for a good while and won't have access to/need for SSH (requires working laptop and wifi), or if I'm particularly concerned about the power bill, I'll switch it off, but it doesn't really seem to use much power anyway. Besides, no matter how much electricity I save, that damn fridge still seems to be on all the time and there's still twice as much in fees as in actual power cost anyway...

I did always leave the NES and SNES on until I could finish or find a save point though. 3 days on DKC once. Handled it just fine.

I have a server, which is on all the time.

I have my media desktop, which is on all the time because I am *ahem* acquiring media that I just can not get my hands on easily in the US.

My other two computers (old HP and Performa 575), I usually turn them off when I'm done using them... since with older computers, it's generally not that good of an idea to leave them on constantly

I leave it on all day but I turn it off during the night. The lights are annoying when trying to sleep. When I'm downloading something, I usually throw something over the computer to hide the lights

Desktop is always on. There's no real reason for me to keep it on other than to idle in IRC, but I do anyway.

Laptop is always "on", meaning I never shut it down -- but it is asleep when I'm not using it.

Server, of course, always on.
