Unstable as hell, but very promising so far.

One thing that's noticeable off the cuff: startup/shutdown is shockingly fast compared to older versions. It also tears right through JS heavy sites with ease.

Looks like an actual update, instead of randomly changing the established UI for no reason.

This will be nice for the computer downstairs, where Opera is used to fetch email.

Crashes, Skin glitches....

I'll struggle through this until the full version because ZOOM

Not as memory-heavy as they said on the site either.

Chances are there will be weekly alphas not long after New Years. With a few betas to follow in the spring/summer months with the final version dropping sometime around November.

That's my guess, anyway.

Yeah but see, I've only managed to find one completely replicatable crash so far. For which I've already filed a bug report. YMMV.

blazing fast
oooh pretty search (/ -> keyword)
they managed to get rid of the menus and put them in a place that actually makes sense. the interface is good and not a horrid failure like IE8. also it's fully customizable even if you don't like it
handles JS well
support for widgets
lots of smoothness without lag, i am impressed
the widgets actually suck
M_FOLLOW_LONGDESC (seriously, right-click on any non-link image. ????????)
200MB of RAM after 15 minutes of use
you can't scroll by using middle click. this is not a big deal to most people (i doubt they'd even notice) but a big deal to me whose mouse wheel doesn't work.

overall: very promising, but also very pre-alpha-y. but definitely gonna be something i look forward to.

Yea... I can't wait until the final release comes out of Opera 10.50, but I'll wait until at least beta before I download it

I think I might finally replace Firefox with Opera as my default browser once the final version is released

Scrolling with the middle click is how I always scroll, so I do hope they fix it.

Although that won't change much since I use it primarily for email downstairs.

Yeah the one Shadic grabbed was horrible and miserable and was updated days later on the desktop team.

I'd try this since I've sat through quirky betas before, but I'm lazy...

Gah! This was in the 10 Beta I tried as well. Drove me nuts.

Also, I decided to download 10 and give it a go. It's pretty smooth and whatnot, but crashes when trying to use Google Wave. :specialed:

Arguably this is more of Google's fault, since they don't support Opera for anything, even if it works flawlessly (Gmail).

I've been using it since it was released. It's pretty nice. I did get a lot of crashes in the first 10 minutes or so after I installed it, but it's been mostly stable afterwards.

It's fast! Especially for startup/shutdown like Kyargu mentioned.
Good UI improvements which don't totally break everything
New find feature is pretty awesome
Quite stable for a beta, let alone an alpha
border-radius

Images get blurry smoothing by default when resized
... but you can turn it off in opera:config

Compatibility broken with old themes
Image right click menu is hosed (several options are disabled, M_FOLLOW_LONGDESC)
Textareas sometimes don't render correctly when scrolling
LastPass bookmarklet doesn't work
No extensions yet

I take back what I said about the final being out sometime around October. It's looking more like Mid-May at this point (at least for the Windows version.)

Clicky.
