I've heard these are really rare.
Basically, they are large boxes of the game, and come with guides and stuff. I think they were released in PAL only though...
I have one for Illusion of TimeGaia, with a guide that gives hints on the red jewels and such (But keeps the spoilers and only tells you about the fisherman's one at the end. Actually it's a pretty good guide).
It also uses the japanese box art, making it awesome.
I have one for Secret of Evermore, too. Though I wish I had the one for Super Metroid...
Does anyone know a list of which other games have them?

EarthBound came in a large box, with a guide included, but that's the only one I can think of ...
It really stood out whenever I went to rent SNES games, too

Earthbound included the Player's Guide but I have no idea why...
They really weren't that common in the United States. Aside from the odd large manual... no real bonuses.

If I remember correctly, I think Mario Paint came with a manual as well . . . and a mouse.

 Mario Paint box (from GameFAQ's)
Earthbound box
It's a bit hard to tell they're bigger than normal, except for a few things looking smaller ... but EarthBound seems to be the bigger one of the two

 | Well, the mario paint box had to be big enough to include the mousepad too. I don't really remember it being big, but I know it came with the mouse and the mousepad, so chances are it was.

The copy of Mario Paint that I have was bought secondhand, we had to track the mouse down at yardsales, but our old Blockbuster had the huge Earthbound box, it towered over the others and ate the younger N64 games to sate its hunger lest it grow fond of human flesh!

Mario Paint's box was big, yes... but that was only for the mouse.
There was a Player's Guide for Mario Paint (WTF...) but it didn't come out at that time.

 | I have the Mario Paint box. Another reason why it's so big is because it also included a plastic mouse pad that is approximately the exact same size of the box. The mouse pad was completely pointless though if you had a flat surface to use the mouse on anyways .

Yeah... I mean, it's the thought that counts. Out of the SNES peripherals, the Mouse actually got some decent use... games were still released that supported it until the end.
