I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings

So I've hacked together a batch downloader, and when I went to adapt it to be able to grab a list of playlists from a user page, Youtube decided it didn't like that very much. It uses this URL in its script to get the playlists:
http://www.youtube.com/profile/?action_ajax=1&box_method=load_playlist&box_name=user_playlist_navigator&new=1&playlistName=rekcaHrepyH
But what do I get when accessing that URL directly?
while(1);{"errors": "I call shenanigans", "success": false}
They actually return an infinite loop to the calling script. I can't see what purpose that would serve other than to deliberately crash the user's browser.

Gee, Youtube, maybe if you guys weren't such jerks (like this prime example) I wouldn't have been motivated enough to get all my videos off this sinking ship in the first place.

At least you did not play with your kitten. A lot of people on Youtube get SUPERFUCKED offended when you do that shit.

I had that "I call Shenanigans" a couple of times when I was on Youtube. Mainly embedding videos whenever Embedding is disabled.

I think Google really should sell/spin-off YouTube, or something...

They can be ridiculous (see: Viacom fiasco of 2007, WMG fiasco of 2009... hell, even Google's takeover and the new channel design)

I have to agree with Schala on this one. Google has really dropped the ball on youtube...and if it isn't google, then whoever the current management of youtube is. Seriously.

So it calls shenanigans, and crashes your browser?
Why would you do that with code?
Youtube needs a time-out.

Google owns half the internet by now. Whatever happened to the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and similar legislation? Or do those not apply to cyberspace?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. EA will buy out Google soon enough.

It will be called GoogleapplemicroAT&Tsonytendo.

Not to mention adding copyright info to videos that use content not by the user to prevent them from being sued off the face of the Earth.

Yes. Yes they are.
The only reason they have to have something like that prevented is to prevent fair use. And of course, since the good old US of A is run by big money, they can get away with it all they like.

That doesn't really apply to things which aren't monopolies

also I'm not sure how anything Google does is giving it the potential "to restrain trade, or to fix prices"

As far as I know, here's how it works.

Youtube Management(1) entered into a deal with Google Operators(2) so that Users(3) would be able to see/hear/know that 3's videos are safe on 1's network based around the security system used by 2's massive server system. HOWEVER! This disallows 3's ability to download ANY video, copywritten or not, even if 3 submitted the video to 1. In order to establish a balance in this 2 is to allow specific downloads to all browsers outside of 2's personal browser(Google Chrome).

Translation:
Youtube and Google are working together to fuck the Internet.

So I've hacked together a batch downloader

Youtube already sends the videos to me on demand, for free. Is there some reason I shouldn't be allowed to save a copy when they do so, so I don't have to wait 10 minutes for them to load and later find them them deleted despite not having infringed any copyright nor the ToS? And is there some reason I shouldn't be allowed to write a script that will have it send several videos in series, instead of manually requesting them? Is there a reason to delete those videos in the first place, when they've broken no rules or laws, and many duplicates or nearly identical videos remain untouched?
Hell, am I not actually helping them by downloading my favourite videos? Just means I don't have to waste their bandwidth streaming the same video multiple times.

There's also the possibility that someone has a forum/blog system with a "Youtube" tag, where they just paste the video URL, and the system generates proper embed code (as opposed to Youtube's embed code that can't be used in most forums and isn't XHTML compliant). Someone copies the URL without noticing the "embedding disabled" in the info and pastes it into their post. Is there a good reason to punish everyone who views the thread by crashing their browser?

I really don't understand the "we can send users a file and not allow them to save it" mentality, and certainly not the notion that it's OK to go crashing random peoples' browsers because someone is doing something you don't like. There are much less destructive ways to go about preventing things. (Plus, their method is silly anyway, as it's so easily triggered by any random glitch, yet will have no effect in a script such as mine, only an actual browser which probably isn't a batch downloader.)

Don't even get me started on the horribly broken comment/spam filter systems that just discard everything you've written without explanation because you included a string like "640x480", make you do a CAPTCHA as much as every third comment, and various other flaws that result in needlessly blocking innocent links (even to pages on Youtube) and erasing large amounts of text. Meanwhile annotation spam goes entirely ignored.
