I use a laptop stand because it lets me use my laptop without having to look down all the time. It's too bad that I can't really put it any higher than the first notch because of how my laptop was made. (Toshiba Satellite A350)

Nope. I like to feel the heat from the laptop on my legs.

Actually, the real reason is because I don't use my laptops that much, so why bother with a stand.

Same reason I use my laptop stand... though sometimes I have to just use it in my lap. Netbook never gets the stand, though. Also keeps it a bit cooler when I'm streaming.

My Satellite L355D-S7901 fits on the stand just fine, raised to its highest...

I put my laptop on a desk with a wooden box thingy over it to placed it at a more comfortable height. I'm 6'1" (185 cm) and when the laptop is on a table, my neck hurts from looking down at it so much.

I'd usually use a fold-up TV tray or a desk, but my laptop's broke and I haven't got around to fixing it.

I always wear jeans, so my pants work for insulation against the processor heat. Not that my laptop gets very hot anyway.

Nope. Mine is always on a computer desk, or a table of some sort.

I have to use an external fan stand, because otherwise this thing heats up so much that it burns my fingers.

Believe it or not, the fan/stand is made by Belkin. It's very light and very quiet.

Edit: Macbook Pro, with its metal case, can reach temperatures of 130ºF.

My laptop is more of a "desktop replacement" machine. When it was new, it wasn't quite as powerful as a true desktop but it was close. As such ... it gets too hot to comfortably use in my lap. My laptop bag actually has a solid back that I can use as a desk if I need to take the computer places; otherwise I generally use it on a table, with an external mouse and keyboard.

So ... yeah. I don't use a stand.

I usually lay down and prop it between my stomach/legs, it really doesn't get too hot which is nice. Sometimes I place it on the bed or my lap but this is probably my most common position.

My laptop doesn't have a stand itself, but so that it doesn't overheat underneath, I just place two pieces of wood under it, on each side. It stays balanced and gets raised up, too.

Seeing as how it's the only computer I have right now, my laptop is usually on my desk or a table, so I don't really need one.

I only use a Laptop stand whenever I am playing online games with Platinum, or when other friends come over to play random LAN games with.

Currently it's used for a holder of spare change, lunch, or when I need a alcohol stand.

Np, because normally my laptop is on a desk, and when it's not I just take care not to block the cooling intake.

No. I just use a table, or my legs. or a pillow. It doesn't ventilate from the bottom at all so no issues with that.
