You wanna try putting that in a new cartridge?

Besides, I think it needs to connect directly to the ROM in the cart (like the SA-1), so it probably wouldn't even work.

If anyone is interested, I have PCB designs and parts lists for a USB-based SA-1 cartridge expansion... not great, it's only 8MBytes and SRAM is untouched.

If you're interested in hearing about it I could post some data on it.

I'm sure there are tools that would make the job pretty simple that you'd have access to if you're already building these things. They have to be using the original lockout chips somehow, unless they've found a way around that.

First off, I don't think half the extension chips are even available anymore.

Second, they all have custom wiring, so it's impossible to make a one-cart-fits-all design, even with swappable chip carts.
