Hey all, I've recently taken an interest in retro game collecting and wanted to know what amazing deals people have found.

Personally I recently bought Star Tropics with everything(including the map and a poster) in mint condition for 1.04 USD. Also today I bought a Sega Activator in mint condition for approximately the same. Both on ebay.

Um... all that I found was Operation Wolf for about $4 in this old game store that was in the nearby mall for about 2 months.

My parents found a Tandy Color Computer 2 for $2, but it didn't come with any games.

Most of my NES and SNES games were bought used at flea markets and such.

I managed to get a Sega Master System, complete with the original TV/Game Switch and AC adapter, and some games (including Phantasy Star), at my local Play-N-Trade's (the one that I worked for) going out of business sale

Luckily I managed to find a new job quickly

Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire III, FFVIII and XI...
$8.79 each at Bull Moose Music. I practically jizzed myself.

That's really good. I got mine for around $5 but all I got was the game.

I once found a Japanese ebay seller that was pricing games unusually low at first (the newer listings are set a bit higher now). Bought two batches at $4 per game. All SNES except the SRW (I don't have a way to play NES imports though).

1: Final Fantasy 5, Dragon Quest 6, Seiken Densetsu 2, Seiken Densetsu 3, Mother 2, Super Robot Wars 2, Final Fantasy 6.

2: Ganbare Goemon 3, Chrono Trigger, Bahamut Lagoon, Rudra no Hihou, Star Ocean.

Second set hasn't arrived yet.

I don't think they were that cheap, but at PAX one year I picked up a Famicom and both Zeldas for it.

I'm considering going down to a flea market as I hear the ones in NJ(where I live) have massive amounts of old games on the cheap. Just gotta be wary of the resellers.

I doubt that I'll ever find the sharp twin famicom at one of those though.

I have honestly had so many that I can't even remember all of them. Almost all of the retro things that I own were found at a low price at a thrift store .

3 free arcade machines
Startropics, Dragon Warrior, Zelda II, and NES Cleaner, each which is boxed and includes everything for $10
Famicom, Super Famicom, and Japanese N64 for $10 each
Boxed Intellivison with 4 games (which were also boxed) for $10
Boxed Coleco Vision with one game for $5
Sega Genesis with Sega CD and 32X for $10
Mario Paint complete in box for $5
Black Sega Dreamcast with black controller for $10
Boxed Dreamcast keyboard for $1

And a ton of other things. It pays off to go to about four different thrift stores almost daily .

I wish I had thrift stores near me... I heard there's a newish video game store that opened around 15 minutes away from me, might need to check it out and see what they specialize in.

I'm not a persistent bargain shopper.

I recently discovered there is a Play N Trade like 15 minutes from my house. Never heard of them before Schala mentioned it. From what I hear they have a decent retro game selection and have a 20% discount on saturdays!

Some dude on craigslist had some killer deals going on. One of the roommates and I might take a trip and grab some of his stuff, he had the NES Castlevanias for next to nothing which I'd love to get my hands on. Other than that, I got Chrono Trigger for 4 bucks from some Asian guy who bought the English one by accident and wanted to get rid of it. ;x

Well it's not the best deal in the world, but still pretty good:

I got the sharp famicom twin system(famicom system + disk system in one hefty slick 80s aesthetic package) with zelda 2 and puzzle bobble for 110 USD. (78 total with 32 shipping)

Not my find, but a couple of years ago my brother was down in Essex and he found an unopened SMRPG box selling at a car boot sale for £5.

I think he still has it actually, most likely opened though.

My greatest find was back in May of 2007 at a flea market that was held by the church I used to go to:

NES, 1 controller, 1 Zapper, proper hookups, SMB/Duck Hunt, Mega Man 2, Platoon, and Gauntlet for a whopping ONE DOLLAR! That isn't one dollar apiece, that's one dollar for the whole thing.

Here's the kicker: It all works beautifully, I have to do very little to it to get it to load up properly.
