What control device(s) do you like the best for the type of games you typically play?
I like the old-fashioned D-pad, from many happy NES memories I can deal with small analogue sticks, but I can't stand arcade-style joysticks. I don't understand why the NES Advantage was popular because I don't like the joystick. I can use the keyboard, but I find it rather clumsy and prefer using a PC gamepad. And using the mouse works well for certain genres of games (strategy, simulation, some puzzle, card/tile).

D-Pad for old school, small analog stick otherwise.
I just can't understand how people prefer playing with a mouse and keyboard over a gamepad on the computer. I can understand the keyboard in some instances, like way too many fucking buttons needed, but other than that... why?
I use the keyboard if I'm playing ROMs at work or in class, to make it less obvious that I'm playing ROMs Hence why I like emulators that allow multiple input schemes.
Depends on the game, really. However, I have never really liked joysticks. It's much easier for me to control with arrow buttons or small control sticks than big sticks.

Unless it's a game that absolutely requires the keyboard/mouse, I prefer to use pads. I've even gone as far as to map key bindings onto pads for games that normally don't support them.

Within a Deep Forest is super-duper extra fun with a gamepad.

It depends on what I play the game on. If I play it on a console, then I'll just use the controller.. If it's on the computer, then I just use the keyboard and the mouse if it's required.
My favorites would have to be controllers with the D-pad and Analog stick, or the keyboard.
D-Pad/Analog. Keyboard is fine in some instances, but I try to avoid it if possible.

I gotta say, if it's something I'm emulating: Controller all the way. I have 2 that I use, a Logitech piece of shit that works for older gen emulation and a PS3 Afterglow from Pelican (I don't actually own a PS3, I just wanted it for the USB capability) that I use when I'm playing N64/Playstation because I need independent control of digital and analog.
If it's something like an online game: Keyboard/Mouse.
