Do you give any things/characters/items in games unusual/unofficial names?
I usually got NES and SNES games used without their manuals, so I often didn't know the official names for enemies and items and such. I would refer to a checkpoint in SMW as a "Halfway H", because it was around halfway through the level and looks like the letter H
Used to call Goombas something like Crappy Mushrooms Also, the Koopas were called Stupid Turtles, and Bowser was Boozer.

Back when I was about 3, I called the little jumping birds in SMB2 "Peckers" since my dad had called them that at one point. It made sense in my mind :| My dad told me to not call them that after he heard.
In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I called those giant rings that took you to the bonus stage "donuts" for some reason. It was probably because they looked like giant donuts to begin with.
We gave... interesting names to the members of Meta Knight's gang. And with interesting I mean . But we didn't know what their names were, so those stuck.
For some reason I knew many of the names of the enemies when I played the games... I think I never even gave any nickname to a Mario enemy.
Many of the nicknames were given to things I knew their official names too. Like, Bronto Burts were Annoying Flies, Scarfies Stupid Pig-Dogs, etc.
The ones I didn't know their names I just reffered by things like their ability or characteristics. Like "fire dude" or "spiky dude". The only exception was the hi-jump enemy that I said it was a chicken. It makes more sense than a flying tooth or whatever is it supposed to be.
Yeah, I call those Atomic Waffles, Nuclear Waffles, and Radioactive Waffles, depending on my mood at the moment.
Anyway, I usually call enemies by their names or very generic terms such as "guys" or "things", but I occasionally make up names for them. I'll list the ones I remember:
Mario Series: Luigi - Banana Peel Luigi (Usually followed by "strikes again" or "ruins everything")
Half-Life: The Houndeye and the Bullsquid - Lil' Doggy and Big Doggy respectively
Left 4 Dead: The Tank - Heavy
Quake: The Shambler and the Vore - Naked Mole Rat (of Doom) and The Spider Queen respectively
Kirby Series: Squishy - Ikachan
Anything fast brandishing a shotgun or anything fast that can jump weirdly - Scoot
Anything particularly powerful - Rebel without an "h" (Yeah, yeah, yeah!)
More Naming Fun:
For some reason, I refer to the helper's name in Kirby Super Star when talking about a few specific powers. (I call Ice "Chilly" and Yo-yo "Gim", but I won't call Hammer "Bonkers")
The entirety of Star Fox (SNES) is known affectionately as "Polygon Hell" around these parts.
The act of being a "Scoot" is known as "Scooting" as well.
Melons are "the enemy", especially if they're watermelons.
I pronounce Keese (from Zelda) as "Key See", even though I'm pretty sure it's wrong.
Back in the days when I used to lose my temper playing games, I would occasionally call pretty much anything a "bastardfish", even a menu screen.
So, yeah, that's everything off the top of my head.

I don't know... When I first started playing the SMB games, I didn't know what the various enemies were called, so I didn't give them any names... well, except for when acquires the Super Leaf (Raccoon Mario) and the Cape Feather (Cape Mario or Super Mario.)

A friend and I (jokingly) named invincibility in the Mario Kart series "the doodly-doodly power," after the sound invincible opponents in Super Mario Kart make as they drive by.
My cousin and I used to call Klash from Donkey Kong Country "Rolling Rod". I still don't know why. I also used to call Toad "Marvin" (or "Marvin the Mushroom")
