Comes out August 24th, 1 month and 2 days before Halo 3, and I just got a job so I can start saving for both, which is super awesome because the same week Halo 3 comes out my parents are on holiday. Sounds like a House Party to me ...

So, who's gonna buy the elite version when it comes out?

I won't buy one, cause, well.. I shitted enough money out for the normal Xbox 360, and why would I need another one? (I store nothing on my 360, so it still had about 10+ GB left)

The Elite really isn't good, unless you don't already have a 360(Which I myself don't, actually, but eh). And even then I don't see much reason to get it over the premium, It's black and has a larger HD, not that amazing. Maybe if it included the HDDVD player, it would be worth it, since that thing is almost $200. Of course, that's only if you use the console for movies.

I probably won't buy one either. Already have the Premium, and a spare 20GB drive that was given to me.

Next big item on my list is a PS3. Not for the usual reason, mind you. Rather it's because PS1 and PS2 games can save to HDD on it. Less dealing with multiple memory cards. Maybe I'll experiment with that Linux feature too.

From what I've seen HDMI is all hype anyway. Not only could VGA support resolutions above the much-raved-about 1080p back in 1998, some monitors have issues with their HDMI support. Scaling issues for instance. Such as, where your desktop gets cut off at the edges when running the native resolution only on HDMI.

Don't say "1080p requires HDMI" or "digital is always better than analog" either. It depends on the situation.

Do you really actively play so many games that you can't find a third-party memory card big enough to hold all their saves?

PS1 memory cards can be a bit of a pain in the ass to deal with. I could easily fill up a PS1 memory card only using half my games, and only one file each - I like to have three or four going in FFT, to mention just one example, and I've not had good luck with third-party memory units. Plus, slim PS2s can't do any PS1 memory card management.

But I've got three PS1 memory cards, and Xenogears for memory card functions, so I don't need a PS3 for that.
