And yes, multiplayer IS amazing. Nintendo really hit it off with this game.

I tried it in the ghost house and was sorely disappointed.

Would've been nice to have Wifi though.

Got to experience 4 player tonight, in both free mode and coin battle. 4 players is just hilarious and hectic. Good luck getting anything done, but you'll be having too much fun to truly care. 2 players is actually really good for actual progression. You both work together mostly, share items as needed and stuff like that. Up to World 5 now.

Got the game in at work. 50+ copies. One of the very few Wii games to not have a white box(The box is RED).

Can't wait till Sunday...

The CD is a full on red sticker too.

I'm on 5-1 and here's a minor spoiler involving 99 lives and more...

Beat it today. This game is amazing. In my opinion, it is THE best Mario game. Even without the 4 player option, the game is a masterpiece in terms of fun and level design, but with the added multiplayer, you get to share and experience the increased craziness that comes from shoving 4 players into a Mario game at the same time. Loads of fun, old school difficult at times, lots of nostalgic pulls from previous games like SMB3, SMW and YI and one hell of an endgame plus unlockables. Even if you're emulating or playing off a usb stick or whatever, you owe Nintendo your $50 for this game. Go buy it anyway, they deserve the money for this effort.

So, you're saying it's better than SMB3? That's a... big statement.

As I see it, yes. It takes SMB3's format and makes it even better and more fun.

Yes. It is better than SMB3.

One of the best things about it is that it's full of fun level gimmicks and every single level brings something new. Nothing I've seen so far has been repeated. It's also full of little touches like Sonicandtails mentioned. I haven't been able to play multiplayer but the normal game is fun enough.

Playing this has actually made me realise how bad NSMBDS was. Annoying physics (especially in the ice levels which make it even worse), maps which all look the same, horrible graphics (the 3D models don't look good on the DS when they've been scaled down so much, and they clash with the tilesets) and uninspired/repetitive level designs. It's not a bad game but it wasn't as good as SMB3 or SMW, by far.

At least they did it right this time round. NSMBWii is like a combination of the best things about SMB3, SMW and NSMBDS. I think the #1 thing I missed most was how SMW had different colours for normal levels and levels with two exits. In addition, having an interconnected worldmap like SMW would have been awesome but NSMBWii's maps are still great.

yeah, i love the retro feeling it has and the multiplayer is soooo fun! I've been playing with my sister, and we had a lot of fun. But now we are stuck at world-2 tower its too hard.

The game is a lot better in multiplayer.

I should be playing this... oh, within the next 24 hours.

Of course, hearing comparisons to SMB3 and some of you saying it's BETTER... that's high praise.

The issue I have with that statement is, of course, the nostalgia factor. I first picked up SMB3 when I was 6, and it blew my mind for the 15 years that followed. The memories, the fun times, the graphics, music, and overall game itself.... It's just a big nostalgia trip. It takes me back to better times. No matter how good NSMB Wii is, there is no way that it can outclass the feelings and memories evoked by hours of playing SMB3 at 11 at night when you're 8 years old sleeping over at a friend's house struggling to beat the piranha plant world.

I don't think it's better than SMB3 than it's the SMB3 for this generation. That and for people who grew up playing the old Mario games, it's a huge nostalgia trip. It feels SMB3ish.

Picked up one of the last copies at the store today and was behind 3 people in line who were all buying the game.

It's selling like hotcakes.

I'm near the end of World 2 and I'm already racking up stupid deaths trying to get Star Coins.

I got my copy and discovered that my save data for the AUS release isn't compatible, so I've essentially got 6 files to play on now. I'll finish 100%-ing the AUS release first and then probably focus on the actual NA release.

But... they'd be the same game all-in-all...

Oh, by the way... I died on World 1-1. Yes. Screwed up a jump. I'm not ashamed.

So if everyone uses a bubble, it's instant game over

This game is awesome, me and my sister just started on World 2. She's on her first continue, I've yet to use any.

This game's pretty decent so far, but I'm not sure a $50 price tag was justified, unless it gets a LOT more amazing after World 1. Yeah, the throwbacks to previous games are nice (it's AWESOME to see the return of the Koopa Kids, because I f!@#ing hate Bowser Jr.), and it's got some neat gimmicks, but I'm not ready to call it the SMB3 of this generation.

I'm also hoping the difficulty picks up soon. I beat World 1 with around 50 lives in reserve, and only died a couple of times due to my own stupidity. I'm having flashbacks to Super Mario Advance 2...

I'm actually planning on buying NSMBWii, since it looks pretty cool, and from what I've heard from the reviews, it's possibly one of the best games of 2009

I never really got into Mario that much, since I was mostly on the Sega and Sony side of things during the 1990s (my SNES came with Zelda 3, IIRC)...
