In all honesty, I don't like how the beanstalk at 0:21 is growing in midair, the Spiny walking on an angled ceiling at 3:35, and some of the coin placement in that level (4:06). I mostly like what you did, but those things just bug me is all.

Did you take your screenshots with Print Screen or in an emulator? To simplify taking decent sized screenshots, I'd recommend saving them as PNG images directly from an emulator like Nestopia or FCEUXD. This way we can fully enjoy the awesome sneak peeks of your SMB3 hack.

Why not just use/edit the SMB2 sprites of Peach and Toad, they aren't terribly different from the SMB3 style that they'd seem too out of place. That being said, holy shit this hack is going to be amazing :O

Actually, the SMB2 style sprites are vastly different.

SMB2 standing sprites usually have the character rotated slightly to see 2 eyes and their running animation is only 2 frames, SMB3's standing sprites has the sprite looking straight forward with 3 frames for running.

Then there's the full P-Meter sprite which has arms out.

SMB2 lacks normal crouching, carrying object waist level (as opposed to above the head), throwing fireballs, swimming, sliding, etc etc etc....

Now I'm really intrigued as I just noticed, for example, that your Peach sprite has what looks like a pushing animation (something I don't recall being in SMB3), are you adding certain abilities for certain characters, or like...areas you can only clear with a certain character? Haha, I'm getting all excited, I just think this concept already has so much potential so I'm eager to see where you go with it ;x

Actually all the animations you see are for existing things Mario/Luigi do. The "pushing" one I believe you are referring to is Peach's skid animation.

But I'll explain real quick the purpose of the 4 characters:

Yes, each character will have unique power ups and abilities that will have to be used to reach areas that the others cannot. You will be able to play as a character once you have rescued them.

Wario would probably require completely new coding to make work like does in his 2D games, not to mention he'd likely be a different sprite size than the others who can just be modified from the Mario code probably a good deal simpler. Of course I may also be talking out of my ass
