It's a home that supplies its own power via wind and solar power.
Originally posted by the article Designed for a 50-year life expectancy, the miniHome offers the possibility for year-round, affordable living on almost any site. It is equally at home in a remote, wilderness setting – completely off-grid – or in an urban trailer park. Its remarkably sustainable combination of energy efficient systems and beautiful finishes usually associated with luxury condominiums results in a home that sings the virtues of simplicity and conservation."
It's priced somewhere in the ballpark of $150,000. Not quite as affordable as you would expect for a mobile home. I guess the savings from having its own renewable energy source makes up for that, heh. ____________________ JOIN #PROG YOU JERKS.

Reading the comments, all I kept seeing people talk about was "tornado tornado tornado" Well then don't put it in a tornado prone area. And size issues. If you're looking into the market for a house, of course the size isn't good for you. But if you're looking for a mobile home or apartment, maybe it's an option to consider? People need to think things through before saying stuff.
Anyways, now that I'm done ranting about the people, the idea looks novel. As long as the power provided by solar and wind is enough to power the house and then some, I don't see much of a problem. Sure it's small but what do you expect from a mobile home? And for 100K and power is essentially free, it seems like it could be a good long-term investment as long as size isn't a big issue.

I think it's a pretty cool concept as I think the world needs to move off of fossil fuels as its main source of power For a while I've wondered if it would be feasible to put solar panels on most roofs. Of course, it wouldn't work if/when the roof is covered in snow, but in warm climates or for part of the year...

Neat, but way too cramped for the price. I would much rather see a movement to retrofit houses with a good solar panel array, which would seriously cut power usage anyway (in most cases annihilating it all together for most of the day)

I actually think I'd like a mobile home like that. It doesn't look too cramped to me... just fairly cozy.
Of course, being able to afford the damn thing is another matter altogether. It'd never happen. :|

Maybe the second generation of this kind of home will be bigger.
And yeah, a mass effort to increase solar power/wind power usage and production (down to the consumer level anyway.) It'd be hugely beneficial. ____________________ JOIN #PROG YOU JERKS.

But then you're denying power and oil companies their obscene profits and WE CAN'T HAVE THAT
