I don't even know when to expect snow; this is my first time living in this area since I was like, 5. I'm guessing mid-Decemberish.

All I know is that in Arkansas, it usually snowed once a year, and that time was usually early March. Arkansas looked like, really grey and dead and dreary all winter. Not to mention the ice storms that knock out power for several days at a time. I didn't like it down there very much

Last year, my area (along with much of the Northeast) had a major icestorm that knocked out power to much of eastern New York and New England o_O

However, I only had my power go out for less than an hour... lucky me ^_^

I was one of the lucky ones back in Arkansas... my power came back on only after 3 days or so.

Apparently, some people (I'm guessing in more rural areas) didn't get it fully restored for weeks.

Remember that blackout in 2003?

For some reason, the Thumb (where I lived at the time) actually wasn't much affected, but Detroit was, along with many other US and Canadian cities

I remember that blackout--I was living in Ann Arbor at the time. I was, ironically, doing a jigsaw puzzle just when it went out. That normally seems like the kind of activity you'd be doing while the power is out, har har. :[

It was HOT too (mid-August!), and our AC didn't work. I remember going out and people were pissed off and basically swearing and yelling out in public. God, people were tense.

And then just when my parents were about to leave and stay somewhere else until the power came back on, ... the power came back on. I was ecstatic.

I lived in Illinois so I wasn't affected much, except for hearing all the news about it.

There was a power outage in my building a couple of years ago The stairwells have no windows and the emergency lights were out or almost out by the time I got home from school and entered the building. I ended up taking my bike's headlight and using it as a flashlight to guide my way up the stairs

The last apartment I lived in had somewhat common problems with the power going out >_>

Luckily, this apartment doesn't have power outages as often... ^_^

Last night we had a power outage in the whole village. It did not last very long, technical support fixed the problem quickly.

We're likely to hit bonus today

Note to newer members: Bonus is hit when the total board psots for the day are 400 or more. The top 10 posters all get points and the point values are higher.

Historical note for newer members: On Acmlm's Board, the ACS (as it was called then) always counted the top 10 while it existed.

Yea, if I'm lucky, I could make it into the top 3 again ^_^

Anyway, bonus seems to happen rather frequently on Jul, I've noticed o_O

It did for a while, although not too often in the past few days

And there's nothing above bonus, even for days like that day in September when the post count was over 3000 in 1 day

Yea... I'm wondering if there'll be a spree for Halloween or New Year's o_O

I'll probably reach 500 before the end of the year, knowing the rate I'm posting ^_^

I hope there's a spree. I've slowed down a lot compared to last year. I was able to make 1K posts in one year, but now I'm over 300 posts away from my next 1000 posts, and the 2nd year of me being registered here is almost over.

Pfft. I've been here for almost two and a half years, and I haven't even made it to 1000 yet.

You don't need to post a lot to be recognized. As a matter of fact, you're more likely to lose respect if you make a ton of posts and they're content-free... just focus on being yourself and making posts when you can and feel like you have something to add--you actually probably accumulate more posts that way, anyway, at a slower but steadier rate. You don't need to wait for a spree.

e: and by that i mean don't post like me, i am the worst poster

Yea... I'm not rushing to get to a milestone like 500 or 1000, and only post whenever I feel like it... >_>

I know, but it doesn't mean we can't have some fun every once in a while.

In fact, I've been posting a lot more than I usually do. I'm happy enough that I can at least (attempt to) contribute to threads everyday, but it sort of saddens me to see that my goals happen to fall flat on the floor like almost all my other ones.

I need to get past the "planning" part of my goals.

After everything I've done (remember the board2 thread which I killed with CSS hacks) you'll never forget me.
