I live in a town right at the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick provincial border in Canada.

It's quite nice, however it seems that most kids just don't want to stick around because it's "boring" and "there's nothing to do," however the town is in the planning stages of a new skate park and fixing up the fairly unused park that had almost all of it's play equipment as well as the outdoor pool taken out due to maintenance and safety problems. I heard that there will be a stage there... that should start getting the town's residents more active and outgoing, and to keep youth less well... 'bored.'

Woodstock, VA. The town's full of two things: old people and Mexicans. Oddly, I don't see many old Mexicans.

There's a portion of the sidewalk that's very old old and made of brick. It's in horrible shape, predictably, and a constant tripping hazard. Instead of fixing it, the town's wasting money making one specific intersection look pretty - brick crosswalks, new light poles, all sorts of unneeded shit. Their excuse, or so I hear, is that the sidewalk is "historic".

The library has one computer, which you can only use for (IIRC) half an hour at a time. They don't even keep their records on it.

Basically, it's a town with its head up its past.

I live about 10 minutes from Lord Octavian, and currently living with Platinum Angel. So this post might be similar to theirs.

I live in a small town called Cataula. It's basically where all the rich people go to die. There are several areas and subdivisions where big wigs reside. Other than that, there are a lot of personal business locations that live up to their names. BBQ down here is like Washington, you can find one on just about every street corner. Which is lovely because I love BBQ.

There are hardly any nerds down here. You might find some emo nerds residing in a Barns and Noble, and if you are caught reading a manga, expect them to come creeping around the corner asking for advice. Never fails.

You will find more jocks and assholes in Columbus than you would in maybe Atlanta. It's not bad down here, but the social level is absolutely nothing.

In other words. Boring.

Aldan, Pennsylvania.

Moronville, if you ask me. Shit government, morons for voting said people in constantly. There are three people here, as far as I'm aware, who aren't morons. Only thing positive aobut this place is that it's a decent school district.

Collingdale is across the street and the taxes are half, the government is shitloads better, and I can't think of anyone who's a supermoron there.

Saint-Janvier (Mirabel), Québec

Not a whole lot to say about here except that there was an airport a few miles away that closed down a few years ago (seeing planes flying around was quite common until then), and there's been new roads/houses being built around the area ever since we moved there in 1993 ... there's a graveyard about a mile away I could see across a field from home back then, now there's a dozen houses in the way

And where I work (Saint-Faustin) is near Mont-Tremblant, well known for skiing

Yet I've never been in a plane or skiing

Adding to Milly's post... I'd just like to state that Mirabel Airport was one of the STUPIDEST decisions ever made by the government. Sure, let's build a big international airport far away from Montreal without any transit links! And we'll only have the domestic traffic go to Dorval (which would be the major airport not) and send everything else to Mirabel! It can't fail!

Montreal, Canada. Nice little suburb called LaSalle. Very nice and clean, good neighborhood, trees around... no complaints.

Evergreen Park, Illinois. For a town right next to where the Chicago city limits are, it's actually quite nice. Been noticing a huge influx of black and hispanic people all my life here, so now what was a 90% white is now about 70%. Not that I hate it, though. Serious crimes are pretty much nonexistant here. I can't remember the last time there was a report on a murder in this town. Needless to say, I'm sure petty crime is average here.

Of course, the town is boring itself, but close by to bus routes and streets leading into downtown Chicago, which is pretty much the fun capital here.

The town is so boring in fact, that there's only one person everyone in the country will know about. Ted Kaczynski, otherwise known as the Unabomber. Yeah. The only person in this town the whole country knows about, and he's a freaking terrorist. Even graduated from the same high school I did several months ago. I kind of want to be the second. Not terrorist. Fame. But not in the whole Hollywood crap fame. More of comic fame. But enough of that.

Speaking of, the public schools here are strict as hell, which becomes extrememly frustrating after a while, especially in high school.

Whoa

And I thought having been born in the same suburb as Uncle Kracker was bad enough.

The area is awful, it's extremely boring and you hear reggaeton at extremely high volumes everywhere. Politicians and church people use reggaeton as a way to sway people.
*Supakitsune applies desk directly to the forehead!
Reggaeton is pretty much the worst possible genre to listen to. All the disgusting "money, material objects, degradation of women" lyrics of shitty mainstream rap music, except it's in Spanish now! Oh and all the stock beats are exactly the same too! And we manage to fuck it up even worse than is typical of plain old mainstream rap!

Humanity, faith, dipping, etc.

You said you liked big-city sorts of areas, right? Feel free to move to New York City, we'll be glad to have you.
In unrelated news, a funny thing just happened... The moment after I typed that bit about NYC in, the Empire City Day Stage music from Sonic Unleashed came up on my iPod, heh.

As for where I live, I'm in New York City, more specifically the Bronx. I love this city, and one thing I love to do is explore it; I've walked around in Manhattan for a long time, and there's still plenty more to see. Not everything is so dandy, though; our lovely mayor, His Dishonorableness Michael Bloomberg is aiming for a THIRD term, despite having fucking raped the city's economy with his various little plans, including the Atlantic Yards project, the "New Yankee Stadium" and "Citi Field" constructions (both completely unnecessary trivialties in a slow economy), and his disastrous bid for the 2012 Olympics which gave rise to the failed New York Jets West Side Stadium project, as well as the extension of the 7 line (one of the few decent things to come of any of his actions). And then he claims to care about people who live anywhere outside of fucking Richville NYC (e.g. the Upper East and Upper West Side of Manhattan). If that's the fucking case, then why, among various other problems mostly involving the outer boroughs, is the South Bronx STILL ONE OF THE POOREST NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?! What the FUCK have you done for them, Bloomberg?

That's what I thought.

Because you were at Tampa and Jacksonville.

I've been to Tampa once and that was when I was a kid and we went to Busch Gardens. Never been to Jacksonville, but I wouldn't mind taking a trip up there one of these days.

My dad lives two hours away from me, on the West Coast of Fla, and I cannot see myself living there, too damn boring. Heck, when I drive up 40 minutes north to go to this retro gaming store, I can't picture myself living there. Dade and Broward counties are so different than the rest of the state.

I'm not going to tell much, as I'm a big fan of being invisible on the internet, but it's one of many strips of land near LA, filled with drug dealers, prostitutes, and homeless people. It's an area which pretends to be big while winding up just being a half-way zone between LA and the suburbs.

With taxes of all kinds rising, jobs down and College funding down, the area only becomes more depressing every day.

My old high school spent thousands of dollars on a sign, when their school was so overflowing that some classes were held in trailers outside of the school proper

Quite obviously, I live in Finland, more precisely twelve kilometers from Iittala, very deep in a forest... 'tis a small village. You might know Iittala as a brand of glass... Yeah, that Iiittala.

Highlights:

- Very peaceful
- Too peaceful (boring)
- Idiotic young people (you can drive 50km/h he- oh wait, he just zoomed past me. and i'm driving 50. ffff)
- Very low crime rate (finland is peaceful anyway)
- Village Schools (small, 30 - student school is just 100 meters away from our house)
- Idiotic people in high ranks (really, shutting down a village school just cuts out the choices for parents and IT WILL NOT SAVE YOU ANY MONEY)

Yeah, I'm pretty boring. I could drop a photo or two here.
