I don't know if they still do, but I remember saving a thread with useful info in it as it neared the 500-post mark.

Did GameFAQs also stop deleting old threads? It used to only save threads for a very short time

I think the thread still remained when it hit 500 and then it auto-closed. Occasionally you'd see a thread with 501 or 502 posts if a few people snuck in posts split seconds after #500.

I had a board account long ago there, and I think I only ever made 1 post with it. Sometimes I read some of the threads there though

Yeah, I check out their FAQs a lot

They're like the only large general gaming Web site I visit. Most of them are way too news-oriented and focus on new games that I don't usually care about.

It would be nice if GameFAQs covered freeware and shareware games though

I was on the GameFAQs message boards really briefly when I was like 12. I ended up losing interest pretty quickly after being active on other message boards, though. I think I arrived too late (late 2003), you know, after it got overloaded with idiots and stopped being any real fun, so I didn't stick around for too long. I made a couple of friends on it though.

I do like the FAQs though! That's about all I use it for anymore, just like most other people, really.

Some boards I've found have enough traffic to self-sustain, but don't have enough people for the board to go straight down the crapper, like the board for Digimon World.

Eh. I can sort of understand having mod applications on the GameFAQs' boards, since they're huge. It's kind of hard to handpick good members to be mods when there are so many of them.

IIRC, after the ones in 2002, I returned to the board after an absence and was like "Holy fuck, that's a lot of local mods!"
