That was common at Acmlm's as well. Usually I had layouts off in those days, but if they were on, I'd get confused with a lot of post headers, especially since no line break was between the header and the text unless you put one in.

When I had little Web sites like that, I tried to keep the design consistent and avoid moving elements, but many people were like "Cool! I can make the text dance around!"

It's like n00b PowerPoint presentations that tend to use rotating text, wacky sound effects, weird hard-to-read fonts and colour choices, and so on

My biggest layout mistake at Acmlm's was probably my old layout that changed the foreground colour but left the background colour the same

I don't know if any schemes would have had trouble with that, but some may have, like if they used a light background.
