It's not too bad but it does get really annoying at times. Our government is stupid and makes terrible decisions. They're spending countless millions of pounds (I forgot exactly how much, a lot though) on a new airport when airlines are cutting flights. How does that make sense?!

I was born here, I can't go anywhere else (although I wish I could

) and it's just a pretty annoying area.

Granted - it does have some good things. There's a low crime rate (Although a few days ago I heard something about a bunch of Moroccan youths beating up a man with "homophobic motivation" - that made me feel sick

) and not that much stuff really goes on.

One thing that really annoys me about it is that it's very hard to find recent things (Video games, gadgets, etc) and when you do, they're extremely expensive. Been looking for an iPhone for several weeks. The cheapest place we found it had it at £650.

A lot of the stores here (especially for electronics) are locally owned and really incompetent; they have a terrible selection of things, high prices, horrible support, horrible salesmen, etc.

That's about it for my rant.

Columbus, Ohio ... is basically a giant combination of everything. There's people from all over and they are pretty well-represented; it's hard to define "minority" around here. You do get the occasional "hate crime" based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, etc. but for the most part people seem to get along well enough ... in the nicer areas.

It isn't a horrible place to live compared to many other places, but I still hate it. Some of the suburbs are still fairly nice, but lately a lot of apathetic inner-city people have been moving to the suburbs and bringing along with them a criminal element. Things are not as nice as they used to be ... and it's all mainly because the Columbus schools are shutting down and now the suburbs' schools have to deal with people who don't care about their education, and teachers spend more time babysitting than doing their jobs, crime rates are higher than they've ever been in places like Reynoldsburg, and things are just gradually going downhill. In Grove City last week they had a school resource officer get stabbed and a student shot and killed. It's not pretty. A lot of parents are enrolling their kids in some kind of online homeschooling to avoid the public system now, it's that bad. The enrollment in the public schools is lower than ever.

Another thing I don't like about Detroit is that there isn't much urban life. From living in Ulm, Germany, and visiting Paris and Seattle, I've learned that I really like big cities/downtowns

Detroit has an urban core, but it's surrounded by a huge ghetto that I don't feel safe riding a bus through

Pretty much the only advantage of living here is that stuff tends to be dirt cheap, but that's because so many people are poor

And then there are a few very snooty wealthy suburbs. People send their children to private schools so that they don't have to have students of another race in their classes

Gibraltar is quite a bit like this. There are people from pretty much every race/religion here.. so there's barely any discrimination over that. It's more so sexuality which people have a problem with now.

It's extremely surprising that more crap doesn't occur considering how diverse people here are, though..

Yeah, here there are different groups (Whites, Blacks, Jews, Arabs, etc.) but they mostly live apart from each other, so a lot of racism creeps up out of nowhere

I'm a White atheist living in an area near the border between Jewish and Black neighbourhoods with a few Eastern European immigrants around.

I live in Esztergom, a quite big city in Hungary (also would be a little one in the USA, I guess). In general, I like living there, I was born here, I attended schools (and attend the high school in the present too) here, so I know almost every corners of it.

Esztergom is one of the most old citys in Hungary, it was the capital city for a long time, and the first Hungarian king, St. Stephan lived here too. The main spectacle of the city is probably the largest catholic church of the country, the Basilica. It's very huge, it can be visible on the most of the places of the city. So it's not a surprise, that we can see many tourists in the city. They're just coming and coming, sometimes they can be a bit annoying (this can be a bit surprising for you, but yes, they can be), mainly people from Germany, Japan and such.

I can say, the environment here is quite good compared to the other citys. Clear streets, beautiful promenades, and the Danube. Maybe someone heard of it, it's the biggest river in the country, many great ship-tours start from here. Oh, I don't know, that it's fitting to the environment, or not, but the girls are pretty nice in the city as well.

So, as I said before, I like living there. A very nice city. I'm not really sure, that I'll move to another city after I start a family and working.

That's insane.. A lot of people here go shopping to this supermarket in Spain just over the border - but then again it's only about a 15-20 minute drive (And it'd be shorter if it wasn't for the frontier queues) just because it's so much better than the local supermarket/stores.

I don't understand that either, actually

When I was younger we lived near NYC and later near Buffalo, so I had a hard time adjusting to living out in the country. We moved to Lexington when I was 9.

My dad actually worked in a suburb of Detroit (Harrison Township, IIRC) and commuted for around two hours each way to and from work

I honestly don't understand why my parents are so in love with a tiny town surrounded by farms and trailer parks. They both grew up in cities/suburbs.

Two hours?!

That's ridiculous - I've never even been that far in my life, let alone done it regularly. I think I'd go insane.

I get bored really easily with repetitive trips/routes.

Of course he did, as there's no train or bus he could take. All that fuel wasted, all that time, all that wear and tear on the vehicles. I think he hit like 100k miles (which is around 160k km) in 2 years or so.

Yeah, I always go in car - I've never travelled any other way, other than the local bus service (which is pretty crappy -and I rarely use it).

I wouldn't be able to live in an empty place like that, ever. Gibraltar is really small but also extremely crowded.

I live out in a county area right outside Columbus, Georgia called Harris County. County life is cool. don't have to worry loud noise's at night, guns going off, cop sirens, and etc.

As for the city of Columbus, it OK. its the 2nd or 3rd largest city here in Georgia. You can find a good bit of stuff around the city if you know where to look. For all games and retro games, I would recommend a place called "Play N Trade". They have everything so go get it now.

I could that the crime rate is above average. I don't really watch the news enough to care what goes on.

I live in a small (very small) town south of San Juan that still looks just like the Spaniards left it, well, much crappier. We have a corrupt mayor, here politics are all about the party and people don't care about the dude so we're stuck with some guy that steals the money for himself and has done absolutely nothing in two terms now. I'm about 10 minutes from downtown which is just a few houses crammed together and the tallest building is my three-story school.

There's a very small mall (about 15-20 stores) that has a Gamestop about 2 minutes from my house but few people ever go there... As for a fun place, the nearest thing we have is the capital city which is about 40 minutes from my house. Outside the mall, we have more churches than stores by a ratio of about 3:1.

The area is awful, it's extremely boring and you hear reggaeton at extremely high volumes everywhere. Politicians and church people use reggaeton as a way to sway people.
