I used to screw around with the themes a lot Mostly because I tend to prefer old-style light-on-dark colour schemes.

I'm a Windows Classic person. I'm so glad Windows 7 has it.

I've thought about making my own just for the heck of it, though.

I'd prefer having a darker theme than the default ones.

I just have to find a good one that I actually like.

Windows 7's Classic (and Vista's) is horrible though

... I just turned it on. It's even worse than I remember it. And.. is Classic honestly this bad? I'm so used to Aero.

Resizing mIRC is sluggish and the text flickers, moving windows around leaves trails, and the start menu looks extremely rushed and unpolished.

You know what'd actually be pretty cool? A version of Classic that's done in Visual Style form and polished. That way, it could use DWM (which makes the window system a lot smoother) and fix up a bunch of stuff like the start menu.

That looks pretty nice, but before I get it, I'll search for some more. I just need to get used to the new theme when I finally get it.

I use a green variant of the normal XP theme. I think it's called Emerald and I can't even remember where I got it from.

It's classy, though.

I don't really remember what Classic looked like in Windows 7, because I didn't really use it much. It's great in XP, though.

XP's classic is pretty great. I've got it on my desktop back at home. I liked how you could customize just about every color on it. Only thing you can change on Vista is window color essentially.

imo I like the Aero scheme in Vista/7. Never really cared for the Windows Classic scheme, and I'm all for something new and shiny.

Indeed. My dad has the classic theme on his computer. I guess he just didn't like XP's shiny themes.

I didn't like the silver theme with XP (not Classic). The blue and green was just what I stuck with until I found Royale.

Silver just works for me. I guess blue and olive was just too bold for me.

I'd change to Royale on this computer, but my mom'd probably freak out because of the change.

Classic isn't that bad, but I prefer Aero far more, or a good XP theme. I love the fancy coloured hover effects on Windows 7's taskbar buttons.

I had the Aero cursors back when we still had XP, and the Vista soundpack.

I like the Aero cursors, but there's another set I prefer more.

http://nighted.deviantart.com/art/DMZ-Cursors-58429447 - DMZ cursors, they're the same set Ubuntu uses. They're pretty clear and I like the shape. Not really important but I still like using them.

I can't believe I've written this much about a cursor set.

We weren't even testing for that.

I use XP classic + Windows 98's icons, which is pretty noticable at some spots.

I don't think I've used a non-custom theme in 2 years. Mostly lassekongo's themes. His stuff's pretty awesome.

I used only his themes, too, with a few exceptions.

I just upgraded my desktop to Windows 7, though... let's hope it's as good as everyone made it out to be. XP was being a bit flakier than usual anyway... so if 7 turns out to suck for me I can just make a new XP install.
