Xk's C drive is named Junk?

I usually would name the drive/partition after the OS or something equally boring

I named my computer/harddrives after video game characters, because that's what my Dad did with all of the other computers in the house for a while (since it's easier to just reference "SONIC" rather than "Drive D on the computer downstairs").

Greetings from FOX (hosting PEPPY and FALCO)!

"A horrible person". That's what it says. "A horrible person."

We weren't even testing for that.

My unoriginal names at least have a purpose, I can access each partition by typing its letter, and it keeps the names short

As for font embedding, there's a new CSS property that allows it (@font-face), it's at least supported in Firefox 3.5 so far (see here and here)

BigBlue is partially named after F-Zero and partially because the tower is huge and has a bright blue light inside. It's not got anything on it right now because I plan on doing a custom install of Win7 Pro come Thursday.

I probably should have hooked up my external disks to my laptop, but I only have one firewire port so I'd only be able to have one plugged in at a time. I have an older 160GB disk and a 320GB one, named "Time Machine" (whoo original) and "Neptune" (after the name on the disk enclosure.) I renamed my computer to 744 and my user account to a random noun (sphere) temporarily for this image. And yes, we really do have a PC on the network named "d" ...

Note that the icon for Windows machines on the LAN in OS X are represented by a beige CRT displaying the Windows 9x BSOD.

The D drive came with the computer and I haven't messed with it. F is a FAT32 partition from my Linux dual-booting days, still used to store various files

Mine are all named Local Disk... my netbook HD's name is "ACER" and my laptop's is some generic name.

I'm used to just using the Run box to get to my drives.

I have that habit too. There's a lot of stuff which I'll just open through the Run box or through the search box in the start menu, by typing in the path. It's so much better in Windows 7.

I always do it that way (much more often than from My Computer), simply Win-R "C:" and such

But even better at work where the keyboard has special keys (mail, etc.), I remapped one of them to open the directory where I put all my stuff (and I remapped another to command prompt)

I actually rarely use Win-R except on my laptop. I'll click on the start button and type in a path or a program name. Weird right?

How were you able to remap the keys, Acmlm?

The media keys only work under Linux for me - I can't get them going under Windows. This keyboard uses FN+F(num) for some reason, though...

I think it was in the registry somewhere, but I can't check from here (might be related to the HID service) ... I use both of them quite often, at least

Using the Vista start menu's search probably isn't that odd once you're used to it and got all common programs/paths available from typing a single word But I'm still only used to the classic Start menu for now, and Windows 7 (with only the new menu) should still allow Win-R ...

I actually don't even use the search feature - I simply use it as a quicker-to-access version of the Run box.

One cool thing is that if I type in a path, all the folders/files contained in it show in the list - and also recently accessed paths near there if I leave off the final \. It makes it far easier to find stuff. Run box has the autocomplete dropdown list, but I prefer this.
