Something else I just thought of..

I'm bad at starting conversations and at keeping them going. I really wish I wasn't, but it's hard for me. It's not so bad online because I can multitask and I don't have the pressure of having to provide an immediate reply - but offline, it's terrible.

I don't start conversations offline. It just never works.

I even have that same problem on the phone though, and sometimes online. I far prefer talking in chat rooms (like IRC and such) than in private with one person, unless I specifically need to talk to them about something. It makes me feel less shy and it's easier to jump into a conversation or bring up stuff.

I can't do phone calls either. I think my longest phone conversation was maybe two minutes, and I wasn't even doing most of the talking.

Also this. I get really nervous whenever I do that. It took me so long just to get out of my shell and post here more than once a week. I worry too much about what people will think of me, or about doing something potentially embarassing or that will get people to dislike me - so I tend to be really introverted at first on forums and such.

I'm also nervous when it comes to posting/IMing people/anything else, really. I'm horribly meticulous about posting--sometimes I'll just end up previewing a post I've written and rereading it over and over, then I decide it's stupid anyway and end up not posting it. How I've managed to get as many posts I have, I have no clue. I'm the same way with IMing people, especially people I'm unfamiliar with.
