My alarm clocks runs too fast. Right now it's 15 minutes early and still increasing.

About mass transit, it's pretty meh here though I do live in a village so no surprise. It runs from 4 AM through 10 PM every hour with some additional trips during work times.

My computer clock is constantly changing itself to be three hours behind. How... irritating.

Mini-Moog: Maybe your time zone setting is wrong and your computer is trying to synchronize with a time server using the wrong time zone.

Oh good point. I'll check and see it if isn't right.

(edit)

Yep. You were right. I fixed it. FINALLY. Thanks Terra.

Had a similar problem with Linux, but I figured out how to solve that problem.

In the words of Tom Servo, "Seal it off, don't go in there!"

You're welcome, Mini-Moog

I think also, Windows expects the system clock to be local time, whereas Linux expects UTC, so things can get messy on a dual-boot system. IIRC, I would tell Linux I lived in GMT

I know. I tried converting myself to Linux, but essentially everything had to be relearned, and the new methods were too out of the way for me to be worth it. I should get around to uninstalling, or at least updating to the latest version to see if the lack of drivers and me having to manually install them had anything to do with it.

On the upside, though, I loved playing SuperTux.

One thing Windows does suck at (for time) is daylight savings ... sure it sets the time ahead (or back) a hour when it should, but it also shifts all file created/modified times a hour (speaking of which, that'll happen again in 2 weeks)

And my computer time likes to be exactly 2 minutes off (either ahead or behind) for some reason, but lately it fell to 3 minutes behind

and 700

Maybe I should switch back to Linux someday I'm thinking of trying a n00b distribution though, as I don't feel secure with stuff like compiling other people's code and resolving dependencies.

SuperTux was slow on my old computer

Congratulations to Gabu on 1300 posts and Acmlm on 700 posts

I think we need to have some sort of celebration when Milly hits 1000 posts.

Or we need to prepare for the end of the world, one or the other.

I averaged 5-6 per day for the last 30 days (after the spree), so I should get it in about 2 months ... maybe even sooner since I'm doing closer to 10 per day lately

Last time I did it was in January 2005, and it's lost in the 2nd archive's many missing posts so I can't even look back

Terra: If you're looking for a more windows-like experience, I'd suggest Kubuntu. Otherwise, Ubuntu with GNOME or Xfce would work fine.

...There's always Fluxbox as your window manager too, if you wanted... though that takes knowledge of configuration files. Once you figure it out, though, you should be fine.

My Ubuntu install uses GNOME. Feels a bit nicer than Xfce, and I didn't feel like waiting for Kubuntu 9.10. I'll have to reinstall 9.10 via CD in a few weeks anyway, seeing as Windows 7 will probably nuke GRUB when I install it...

Yeah, I'm more comfortable with KDE than GNOME, maybe because it looks more like Windows. GNOME has that weird menu bar on the desktop, which I'm not used to

I do like some aspects of Linux GUIs, like easy copy-paste and input of diacritics and non-English letters

Actually, I much prefer GNOME. I like the top bar.

Windows is actually throwing me off now. I keep looking for my top bar and weather up there, and pressing Win+E to try to switch desktops.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I'll need to force myself to stay awake for something on the computer to finish.
