Title: "We are now closer than ever before to passing health reform, but we're not there yet," he told reporters in the White House Rose Garden. "Now's not the time to pat ourselves on the back."

Instead, he said, it is time to "dig in and work even harder to get this done."

The committee passed the long-awaited $829 billion bill Tuesday by a 14-9 vote.

Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, was the lone committee member to cross party lines, breaking with other Republicans to vote for the measure. All of the panel's Democrats supported the bill. Video Watch Obama laud action, call for more work »

The plan is projected to extend coverage to an additional 29 million Americans.

The committee's bill would subsidize insurance for poorer Americans, establish nonprofit health care cooperatives and create health insurance exchanges to make it easier for small groups and individuals to purchase coverage.

Among other things, it would cap annual out-of-pocket expenses and prevent insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.

The plan is financed by a combination of reductions in spending for Medicare and other government programs, as well as higher taxes on expensive insurance policies and new fees on the health industry.

Well, last month's spree had some of the quote pyramid craziness And some of these threads probably would have more success here than, say, at I1

It's worrying to think some of these might actually exist elsewhere. :|

Win2k's been the nightmare version for me. I've used ME a few times and it seemed fine... but 2k was where everything went wrong. File corruption is fun

98 hasn't been weird for me, oddly enough.

...Actually, the versions of Windows people hate most have always been the most stable for me. I've not had one issue with Vista, whereas XP's broken on me before. Granted, XP I've been using for six years and Vista for four months... but I've never had my install rendered virtually useless before. It was bad drivers that did XP in for me, though, so I can't really fault the OS itself as much as the shitty driver coders. :/

I've seen threads like the first one there, too. Granted, it was in early 2004, but I still remember seeing them.

Yeah, Legion made a thread like this in 2002, and I think there was another at I1 that got lost.

I don't have much trouble with Vista. I sometimes have some weird compatibility problems, often affecting software the school expects us to use because it thinks everyone still uses XP. I also prefer the Vista theme to the XP theme, as the latter looks rather...childish?

I honestly never got why people hated XP's theme. Granted, I prefer Silver (and Royale Noir) over those... unless we go into custom visual styles.

I'm a huge fan of Aero, honestly. I actually grabbed TrueTransparency recently just so I can see it on the netbook. I think there's a Vista Basic port to XP somewhere, as well, so it might be completely possible to replicate the UI on XP.
