 Some? They're orange (or otherwise yellow) in just about every Mario game that has them ... the only exception I can think of is the red block (for lighting) in Super Mario World (and of course the "!" blocks)
Then with the black border on some of them, you already get the orange/black combination

Well, I was thinking of the yellow ones in SMW compared to the orange ones in SMB1, etc. But yeah, they're pretty much always orange/yellow, Acmlm

Well, they do flash in the same way as coins in SMB1 I don't really think I thought much about what the "?" blocks are made of.
