I've noticed that some other Julers have played games in the Civilization series
My dad brought home the first game when I was 6 or so. I didn't understand it, but sometimes I'd watch my parents play and look at the map and cities and such It was many years before I started playing it, and for a while I was pretty addicted.
Anyway, I've played all 4 of Sid Meier's Civilization games I tried Call to Power but didn't like it and quit a few turns in My favourite is probably Civ III. My dad's still addicted, although he tends to play pretty much the same way every time

I remember renting the first one (for SNES) and playing it all night until 5:30 AM ... quite unusual at the time since I was 13
I did a few full rounds to 2100 and over, and even played the PC version for a short time before that (one of my cousins had it), but haven't tried the rest of the series ...

Never got into the game.
Civilization Revolution, on the other hand, is such a fun game.

Funny, Civ III is my least favorite. XD II is my favorite (probably because I played it first) but IV is excellent as well.
Revolution for DS is really good, actually... they did a great job with adjusting the gameplay for consoles.

I hated that version on PS3. It honestly was not true to the series, and got old very quickly.
The classic and Civ 3-4 were very good. Avoid civ 2 though. I never liked it.

Yeah, Civ II was kinda weird. I don't know, it seemed ridiculously unbalanced
I think CivRev was trying to get non-Civ fans into the series

| I've played all of them but Civ IV is my favorite. Has more features and more things that you can tweet. As well as the culture aspect of it. |
