Okay, this is cool

My wireless recently returned. I begin to reinstall my wireless drivers (a TEW-444UB USB adapter), yet said efforts fall flat:

"Another WLAN configuration software is exist in your system. That could possible cause a compatible issue. Please uninstall it first."

I checked to make sure. No other apps.

System restore got me out of BSODing every disconnect, so I figure it can help me out here too, right?

Restoring does not work. at all.

Reinstalling XP is not an option, as I have no media to back up all of my files to. Fuck.

I'm having to post this from Ubuntu with the same wireless adapter. It works flawlessly here, for some reason. (Though probably because it's manual driver installation...)

Does anyone have any idea whatsoever to what may be causing it to think there's a WLAN configuration utility installed? It's never done this before, and... honestly, I'd much rather use Windows on my desktop.
