Well, I went in to Brown Mackie College here in Michigan City, Indiana this morning, since I had an appointment to meet with one of the admissions representatives of the college. And it turns out the college took a real liking to me.

So they accepted me into their curriculum.

So what does this mean for everyone else? My time online to work on the server will be hindered some as I focus on my college assignments and the like.

I'm not taking online courses, so I do have to commute back and forth to a brick-and-mortar building to take my classes, but the commute is not a bad one. Only about 5~10 minute drive, tops.

My classes will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, (4-hours). However, there is a chance where my class is a "blended" course, where I only have to commute to school twice a week, and meet online twice a week. I'll only know once I get enrolled in classes.

So what does this mean in general? Once classes start up for me, don't expect me to be around as much as I have been lately, because I'll be focusing more on college than the server and things like that. I have priorities, and college will get inserted toward the top.

Now what I'd like to ask, is anyone else here currently enrolled in college? If so, would you like to discuss what you're going to college for?

Me, I'm currently taking their 2-year business management program, to get an Associate's degree in that field. In the long run, I'm going after a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, so I am looking to eventually run my own business. This will also help me with securing myself a job here in Michigan City, since people around here are pricks and want you to have at least an associate's degree.

But enough about that, I'm interested in if anyone else is going to college, and what for, if you don't mind me asking.

I'm going for a computer science degree, and I'm a senior

My schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays and every other Friday, and I work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I actually find myself having, on the whole, more free time in college than in high school I'm a slacker though

Going to Ohio State. Taking just a few classes at a time while working seems to be going well so far, pursuing a design degree with a secondary focus on management.

University of Nebraska here... Computer Science major and Math major, 6 credits short of degree, then I don't know what I'm going to do (already have a full-time gig running a good portion of the University's web site).

As far as time goes, I have plenty of free time, although especially at this part of my school work, I really don't care as much about my grades so I don't put too much time into my classwork, I'm kinda lucky like that and can coast by and not try and still manage good grades.

This sums up most of college for me

I never usually needed to put hours into studying or ungraded homework. This really burns me in classes that require a lot of memorization or absorbing huge amounts of information without using it, but for other classes, my strategy works well.

Community College, been at it for 5 years. Maybe I'll be able to transfer in 1-2 years from now.

Then in another 2 I'll get a BS in Computer Science.

I'm moving to New England, perhaps New Hampshire or Vermont. I'll be attending college there, studying linguistics.

Thinking of going to college at the start of next year for something along the lines of media and design so I can pursue something with television and video editing. It's been an interest of mine since my last year of high school and I really felt like I was going somewhere with it. I've been kind of nervous about going back to school for a while as I really never enjoyed it that much, but I figure it's worth attempting if nothing else.

Nope.

I went to a community college for a few months, but since I didn't know what I wanted, it didn't work out.

I would rather go to a trade school.

Here at the lovely University of Central Florida, third year. With the cuts and rearrangement and new buildings, it seems to be living up to its nicknames, "U Can't Finish" and "Under Construction Forever".

Absolutely amazing school, though. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Oh my God! This was exactly me a year ago! You should go into Interactive Multimedia Technology or Digital Design. It's what I'm currently studying, and I love it!

I'm currently attending Columbus State Community College. Went back to college about a year ago after four years of not knowing what I wanted to study, and only knowing that I hated typical colleges . I went to OSU straight out of high school. I hated everything about it and dropped out after the first quarter. It took me a while to get motivation again, and to actually figure out what I might possibly want as a career, but so far I really like CSCC and my program of study. Not sure what will come of it at this point, but at least it's a start toward getting me out of my crappy fast food job and into something that I'll actually enjoy.

I don't know if Columbus State is the best choice for you, but I do know that they have a specific track in Interactive Multimedia for Digital Video and Sound Production. If you can find another college that offers something similar, that is probably right up your ally. Oh, and if you do go into a similar field, I highly recommend the Lynda.com training website. It will teach you all you need to know in terms of the software involved. I've been using it to supplement my course studies.

Unfortunately, due to working long hours that pay jack shit, I'm currently only able to take 1 course at a time, due to both time and money, so who knows when I'll finally finish my degree. Plus, so far nearly every course I've taken has been online. I kind of like it though. I gives me more time to focus on my courses so that I actually learn something from them instead of just skimming through. I'm hoping I can at least eventually move up to half-time though.

I believe UCF has the same kind of courses as well (in fact, last semester I took a class called "Digital Audio" and this semester I'm taking "Fundamentals of Digital Video") but I'm not sure how much of it there is. I recommend at least checking it out for yourself. It's located in Orlando and surrounded by oppurtunities.

DUDE, same here! It must be the "homework" load. High school, a shitload had to be done every day. College, there's still a shitload, but it has to be done on a specific date, not just the next day.

Nah, just finished my bachelor's at Rutgers University in NJ. It was in biological sciences. Going to a big school can make classes difficult as most professors live by the curve(especially the ones that teach huge science classes) but at least I got the opportunity to design and execute my own research experiments! Looking to get published soon. I am told it's quite an accomplishment.

Right now I am preparing to take the MCAT in January for entry into medical school. Primarily looking at Caribbean schools. Wish me luck!

Currently enrolled within the community college, but not taking anything. Too depressed/irresponsible to continue handling it at this point in time.

...And I've never known of a career I'd like to pursue.

I was never sure about a career either. I don't think I'm really the type of person to keep 1 job for 40+ years and/or devote most of my life to working. I'd rather find a partner and just take on more the classic feminine role while working part-time on the side

Basically, I got into CS because I taught myself programming at an early age

I am actually enrolled in college right now, going for a degree in Engineering.

I'm not really far into the degree program yet, but the experience so far has been good for me, and has also coincided alongside a renewed sense of motivation for me. It's just a CC for now, but I plan on transferring to a local University soon, and plan on leaving Illinois in another 2-3 years.

Best to luck to you, too, Sephiroth, in your academic endeavors.

Going to take classes part-time at Kaplan University online. My mother works for that company, so I'm getting half of my tuition payed for. Which is awesome, of course. I'm kind of nervous about starting though.

Also, my computer didn't meet the minimum requirements for everything, so I'm being forced to quickly purchase a new good computer before the semester starts. I've got a good $150 out of $480 I need for the computer I'm getting, and my deadline is November 10th. So, so far so good. Kind of.
