When was the last time we got a Mario game first? Galaxy was released in Japan first...

Metroid games are usually a lock since the series is more popular here.

Well some times we get games befor the US. Mario kart wii for example. And we do get some wiiware/VC games befor.

But in most case we are the ones that have to wait a very long time to get shit! V_v

I read IGN's preview article of it and am more excited than ever for this game. Here are some points of interest:

  • The plot is very basic and silly. The Koopalings kidnap Peach while disguised as a giant cake.
  • Ice Flower is also a powerup, and acts like the Penguin Suit but without the waddling/sliding.
  • The game keeps track of how many Continues you use.
  • "[...] you'll even see Bowser's ship hovering around the world's castle to show you where you'll need to go."
  • All the backgrounds are full 3D. Yes, even those giant super-smooth hills.

Ooh, an ice flower Does it freeze enemies into blocks like the ice-based powers in Kirby's Adventure?

I think I played a hack years ago that had ice crystals instead of fireballs

Yeah, both Penguin Suit and Ice Flower let you shoot out ice balls to freeze enemies, which you can then pick up and throw as weapons. The ice cubes float in the air, too.

It seems that the Penguin Suit will impede your movement normally by making you waddle to walk, but you can slide on your belly on ice/snow to go fast.

Yay

Mario has been straying too far from the classic gameplay and elements. I want 2D platformers with super mushrooms, fire flowers, coins that are 1/100th of a life, goombas, koopas, and 1-UP mushrooms. Not fifty billion sports and party and other spinoff games. This is the first classic-style Mario game in a while

It probably won't be too serious. Wario Land Shake It had waggle and it wasn't bad. And one could venture to say that this game has barely any waggle compared to that.

Also, the Penguin Suit also allows ease of swimming like the frog suit in SMB3.
And since Iggy Koopa is the boss of the ice world, once could venture to say that the bosses are in their world order from SMB3. Or at least in the respective world themes.

Koopalings and Bowser Jr. in the same game is not something I thought I'd see; I wonder if Nintendo will do anything fun with the fact that Bowser forgot 7 of his children for years.

Maybe they just became his stepchildren or something along those lines.

Then again, the whole family's crazy.

Heh. You found the early release too? I have yet to try it, mostly because I haven't fixed the ISO yet.

Yeah, I was playing two days ago but the time bomb kept going off Thankfully, I don't have to fix the ISO and reburn or anything, just need to use a ocarina cheat.

Of course, I thought I would HAVE to fix the ISO at some point, so I wrote on the DVD "Shitty Mario Bros Wii" for giggles with a friend, and now I regret it XD

Yeah, I saw the Ocarina cheat, but I found the patched main.dol at the same time, and I haven't burned the game yet. Besides, it's sure as hell easier than trying to get my brother to remember to boot through something other than the disc channel.
