If you work or have worked in a kitchen, you know that at some point you will be a cut or/and a burn.

But which one would you rather get?

Cut yourself with a knife or a burn from an open flame/oven/hot surface?

Now here's something that I don't think about everyday .

I would rather get cut since I could put a band-aid on it and then forget about it. A burn would be irritating me no matter what I tried to do to it .

Interesting thread

I'd probably go with a cut. It seems to me that would involve less skin area.

Um... I honestly don't know what to answer. I've never gotten a serious cut (just really tiny ones), but I've gotten some pretty serious burns before.

It doesn't really matter to me, they both suck, but if they're minor I can easily get over them. I think I'd rather get a cut since that's easier to manage, since you can just put a bandage on, and burns can result in blisters which would probably be more bothersome.

I would have to say cut as well.

Is it strange that I think about this?

Probably not, as you're a cook and have to deal with possibly getting cut/burned a lot. Especially holding a sword and fire I'm a tutor, so I'm more likely to have something like "Would you rather tutor trig or algebra?" OK, maybe not.

I really can't put a band aide on anything if I am at work. The sweat mixed with the chemicals from the band aide causes me to have a nasty allergic reaction.

I've cut the tip of my thumb before....twice.

I burned myself pretty bad the other day. Then the next day.

Wasn't a good week.

I try to go one week without a burn.

No luck this week.

I got a burn at work, and realized that the sting and pain from a burn lingers a lot less than cuts.

The aftereffects of a cut is a small scar that bugs you when you touch it, but with a burn the pain eventually subsides and the scars from a burn don't seem to hurt when you touch them later.

The last cuts I got at work hung around for an annoyingly long time...

Having been both cut and burned in recent memory, I definitely have to go with a cut. Burns linger far too long and are a lot more hindering than cuts, which if properly cleaned don't tend to linger for too long.

Having had both of them happen to me on the same hand (the burn was minor, but the cut was sort of deep ), I'd rather have a cut than a burn.

A burn hurts for a long while, and it's annoying when I don't have cold water running all the time, or have some egg white to place on the burn. A cut can simply have a band-aid placed on it, or a piece of cloth if it's bigger, and I wouldn't have to worry about it too much.

I wish I could say the same thing.

I have a burn on my hand that's really bothering me now, and it's been little under a week.

I'd take my chances with the burn. At least with a burn you can put ointment on it and the pain will eventually go away. With a cut you could potentially do serious damage or need... stitches.
