OK, let's try this again. Sorry for fucking up the last poll

*copies post from other thread*

What are your favourite console gaming generations? I'm talking about the full-sized consoles here, not the handhelds.

For me, it would be the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations I grew up on the NES, Atari 2600, and early computers. I later got into the SNES, but the whole 3D revolution pretty much lost me I like the occasional newer game, but I'm mostly into the classics

Honestly, I really care more about the handhelds then I do for the consoles. I was also raised with DOS games and such so... yeah...

More options please?

The best/top on my list has to be this current generation.

I'' go into details and break a few things down when I have more time to do so.

I was specifically curious about console generations in this case, not gaming in general Of course, any of us can make any gaming polls we want. I might even make another at some point

The Gameboy/SNES/PS1 era will always be for me the height of gaming, with the N64/late-PS1 close behind in second. Games were just...better, then.

I would have to say... the 4th and 6th then. Sure the 7th gen is kinda cool... but just not as good as the 4th and 6th.

The SNES/Genesis era was by far the best. You can argue that one system was better than the other all you want but both systems have an as-yet unparalleled library of games in terms of quality.

The NES era is a close second. I grew up too late to really do much with the Atari systems and I've never even seen a Master System in person, but man did I have a blast playing Rad Racer when I was three years old in 1990 ...

Still 4 for me. I'm a Genesis fan.

I like the NES, SMS, and N64 too... and I've had some crazily good times with my GC and Xbox. Now, though... eh. :| The PS3 isn't bad but it's not my favorite system when it comes to games.

I can't decide between 3rd and 4th generation, there are just so many games from each of them that I like that it wouldn't be fair for me to pick one over the other. I wouldn't have minded if games stayed 2D forever (just look at Megaman 9, I found it better than half of the 3D games that are out there today ).

N64 N64 N64 I see there's no love for Nintendo's little black box that could. In terms of quality first party Nintendo games...you just don't beat the N64 in my opinion. The amount of hours logged and fun had in Goldeneye/PerfectDark/Smash Bros/MarioKart 64/F-Zero multiplayer matches with my cousins trumps any amount of time spent with any other console.

It was actually the N64 that got me into SNES and NES games..hehe Its what made me a gamer really. In fact, I think I'm gonna start looking for one to buy and rebuild my library of games.

4th, 5th, and 6th are my favorites. SNES, N64, and GCN always hold good memories for me.

2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th are my favorites, because 5th was really the first I played, and I've played on the ones after too. I did play the Atari as a little kid, though. I still have it, but I think it was missing a part... I need to try to play it again.

I'm torn between fourth generation and fifth, since both had freaking amazing games, but I went with fourth just for the fact that the SNES had the least amount of crappy games to good games when it comes to any other system.

I'm split between 3rd and 4th myself ... I came too late for the Atari generation (2nd) and never got to see much of it, grew up with the NES, liked both the SNES and Genesis, enjoyed N64 (and the move to 3D) for a short time then dropped off, only playing a few of the newer games since then

I did play for about 500 hours within 6-7 months on my PlayStation 2 (+ another 100 emulated), but most of it was the NIS series

I'd easily say 3rd and 4th, but I really do want to toss in 5th as I truly grew up with that.

I personally was a fan of the NES and then SNES / Genesis era, although the most recent generation is really growing on me. I love all the old school RPG's and adventure / platformers, there's a scattering of games between then and now that I've loved to death too. Really it was a tough choice but looking at games I still play they are definitely from NES / SNES and the current era. Although for a while there my gaming habits took a dive due to a wife / girlfriend that didn't like most types of games I liked... so I could only play the games I liked when she wasn't around, which was never. But now she's gone forever, so back to my fun games, weee!!!!

For me, it's the SNES and N64 eras. So much multiplayer and single player fun for me and my brother, with Super Mario World, F-Zero, Super Mario All-Stars, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Kirby's Dream Course, Donky Kong Country 1-3, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, Tetrisphere, Wetrix, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye 007, Quest 64, Bomberman 64, Bomberman Hero, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Pokémon RB/GS, Star Fox 64... I could go on and on.

I selected 4th and 5th. It's what I grew up on and reminds me of Better Days. I mostly grew up on pc/dos games, though.

The 4th generation, with the 5th generation in a close second. I'm probably biased, though, since I grew up during those generations and because the SNES is really what made me a gamer.
