Are there any unusual street or city names, etc., near you (or elsewhere)?

Metro Detroit's most famous one is probably Big Beaver Rd. in Troy. It's exit 69 from Interstate 75 Some others:

- Schoenherr Rd. Pronounced Shaner, and that's how I thought it was spelled for a while until I looked at a street sign.
- Lahser Rd. - Often mispronounced and misspelled Lasher Rd.
- Gratiot Ave., pronounced Grashit
- Common Rd., which intersects a street called Normal. That must be a boring intersection. As in "Oh, I live at Common and Normal"

Some others in various places:
- Hell, MI
- Paradise, MI
- Kalamazoo, MI
- Mexico, NY. We camped near it, and my dad was like "We're in Mexico!"
- While we're at it, Buffalo is a weird name
- Somewhere in Ontario I remember a 50 Rd. Addresses must get confusing Also a Wonderland Rd.

I live near Rocky Rd
And my work is near Home Rd. That would be weird,

"Where do you live?"
"Oh, I live at Home."
"Yeah, but where exactly do you live?"
"I told you I live at Home!"

Then you have all of the neighborhoods whose street names have to have a theme like "Village Park, Parkwick, and Hardy Parkway" in one, "Gold Leaf, Red Leaf, Summer Breeze, and Autumn" in another, and "Northbranch, Westbranch, Candlenut and Candleberry."

Uh, apparently a lot of the roads in my town are named after various famous people or places, like Francisco, Mozart, Troy, Sacramento, Pulaski, and the like.

However, I smile every time I pass by Keeler Av. I'm a Futurama fan.

Well, I live in Buffalo which I guess could be kinda weird, but there's also Hamburg, like Hamburger. As for streets? Not really. There's Werhle or however you spell it pronounced werly. Eggert road always reminded me a bit of eggs or yogurt.

There's a Homer Street near my dad's on the west coast of Florida. I want to steal that sign!

I live near a Fish St.
Also, a lot of streets in Brooklyn near Coney Island and Brighton Beach are named after marine terms and mythology.

There's a lot of streets in Hollywood (FL) that are named after Presidents. Mostly side streets down by the beach.

Metro Detroit has a lot named after obscure Presidents. Coolidge, Hoover, Hayes, Garfield, etc.

Seattle numbers a lot of its streets and it gets confusing in some areas. I remember passing 1st Ave. N., then 2 blocks later was 1st Ave. W.

There are a couple places in the Bronx that are like that. For example, Mosholu Parkway is split into East and West by Jerome Avenue. Mosholu Parkway also has two service roads, Mosholu Parkway North and South.
So the service roads are named East/West Mosholu Parkway North/South.

The other street looks like "Smoketree". Two odd names.

Metro Detroit tends to fuck up west and east sections of a street. Many of the Mile Roads have a West section, then an East section, then another West section, then another East section, and I think Maple Rd. has an East West section way out in the 'burbs. Liek wtf?

So if you want like "512 W. 11 Mile Rd." it could be 2 different places, not far from each other

I always thought Lave Avenue was pretty quirky.

There's a street near one of my old apartment buildings that used to be signed as "Lois Lane" Too bad they changed it to the redundant-sounding "Lois Lane Dr"

Arkansas had the stupidest town names. Like "Bald Knob".
Also, there was a "Weiner" there, although that one's only really funny in a juvenile way.

There's actually a town called Mexico here in Missouri near where I live. To make things even more confusing, there's also a town called California nearby.

Back when I lived in Florida, there was always a nerd clice for every apartment complex. There was Vista Way (Where I lived), Windows Dr (Older people), and Macbrook way (For the people outside the US, mainly Brazilians).

Most of the people I worked with had this ongoing joke about the Operating systems battling it out for superiority. Of course Vista sucks, Windows Dr was the superior place to live (They had a lot better stuff than Vista, like up to date computers and a much better gym) and Macbrook had houses in the Godamn trees!
