My post rate skyrocketed once I stopped just posting once per thread and started replying to individual posts in threads

Also, I started at smaller boards. Acmlm's was huge and a bit intimidating but rather irresistible, but I honed my spamming spreeing skills at TUNMB and Miraged Discussion (both smaller boards).

I sort of grew up on message boards where the norm is to reply to a thread once and to not reply to that thread ever again unless you have something extremely important to add, and to never ever go even slightly off-topic lest you get attacked by a giant swarm of zombie crows that will peck at your head and eat your brains. ... Naturally, it's why I am very cautious about posting. I'm also a pretty shy person to begin with.

I think I'm actually beginning to actually warm up to people here and am starting to call this place my Internet home, which would have been unfathomable to me about a year or even six months ago.

You were at PureZC, right, Kyargu? I remember that place being like "never spam, post count doesn't increase in about half the board"

Even Acmlm's was a lot more strict on posting back in the day. People would get kicked off ACS and even banned just for posting a lot (that was pretty rare though, but it intimidated me from posting too much). Double posting was disallowed by the forum software there except for admins (or possibly all staff). Even now, I avoid double posting because I'm used to it being verboten.

TUNMB didn't care, plus I could make a lot of the rules there (I was essentially a full mod with a ban button). People would be literally the only poster for 10 posts or more sometimes So I found it a lot easier to post there.

Jul is actually pretty relaxed about that kind of thing, from what I can tell. Just don't make like 5 replies in a row with no other posts in between in the same thread or post stuff like "Word Association"

Another thing that helps is starting threads sometimes. I've noticed that you haven't started any threads here yet. You can come up with a topic you know about and start a thread on it.

And as Caboose can attest, playing/hosting game shows helps too

Yeah, I was at PureZC for a while. They're pretty strict compared to this place, although starting out (from 2002-2003), they weren't so bad.

I haven't started any threads because I'm not sure if I could come up with an interesting topic idea that hasn't already been posted. Eh, if I get any ideas and the motivation, I might start making threads instead of just going around replying...

My posting is psuedo-random, in which it will fluxuate on an almost-daily basis but can be varied by on-board and off-board events alike. So in truth, everyone else's habits on the board can change mine, or have no effect at all. Also things that happen here at the house, like my mom staying on the computer for the last six hours of the day(see: yesterday). :/

I'm fairly random myself, but I'm definitely a consistent lurker I just post whenever I'm in the mood and find something to reply to, which isn't all that often ... but it can also depend on overall activity, since I did spike up for a while during the spree

I'm just a bit more restrictive than I should on my posting for some reason, like thinking too much and always going for at least 1-2 full sentences, so it's hard to do more than 5-10 per hour even in a spree ...


I still hate double posting too, at least within short periods (where editing would do) ... I guess it makes a little more sense with post reporting since the post is read almost instantly (before the double posting), but post edits could be reported too

Before the spree, my most posts in one day # was about...fifty-seven. With the spree it jumped to 235. After that it took me a while to make more than eight posts in one day again.

Yesterday I made 20. Today...I need to do something else. Off-board influence!

My pre-spree ACS/JCS record was lost in the New Year's spree at I1 My 24-hour peak before was 206 or something, then during the spree it got well over 500

Yeah, maybe I'll get Anya Syndrome during a future spree

IIRC, when I got into the 500s, I was losing posts from the 24-hour count like crazy.
