I just got it last night because (after all) of the price drop to $15 (since 30 / 2...). I had a spare 20 from my headphone budget.
Of course I will be getting frame lag...but that shouldn't be as much of a problem since there aren't any TF2 Pyros around spraying flames everywhere. If you know what I mean(emitters).
As for actually playing the game, I'm going to have to get used to it all...a Soldier with Rockets attacking a Heavy is one thing, Bill throwing Molotovs at a Tank is entirely different. So any opinionated strategies before I take a test drive of the game(whenever that might be)?

Oh, and I did plan of getting L4D2 because I didn't have this version of the game yet...since I have the 1 now, I don't need the 2 anymore.

I would be so much more inclined to buy the PC one if I could play with my friends that have this on the Xbox 360...

Even though I only played it once back when they had that pre-release demo, I think this catch-all advice for FPSs (And what is probably the majority of video games, for that matter) still applies: "Just shoot it, Fox!"
Seriously, for this game, just play it (perhaps in single-player mode for the first time) and develop your own strategies, but don't be too paranoid.

Anyway, now that it's actually affordable, I may look into getting this. I wasn't terribly fond of it the first time I played it, but I'm still willing to give it another shot.

It's not. One of our computer's runs the Orange Box terribly, and L4D isn't any worse.
afaik you just need at least a dx9 capable graphics card, instead of dx8 for the orange box

See, this happened with Orange Box.

Then I figured out that Steam wanted my funds to be in my CANADIAN balance, not the US one. Fair enough then.

So I bought stuff using the Canadian balance and automatic conversion... Plants vs. Zombies, Trackmania, Braid... no problems. And now?

"This transaction amount is greater than your available PayPal balance. To complete purchase, please add a credit or debit card."

*scratches head* Maybe now they want it in US balance but there's no way I'm going to chance that because then PayPal will take a little off the top as a conversion fee. :\

Hold the phone. It's not the same engine. It's a newer version of it, and has higher system requirements.

Let alone the content,etc that'll also pull more out of the system.

iirc it's usually around noon Pacific when the deal ends, but don't take my word for it.
