It will be 2 years this December. We've already been living together for about a year and a half, so we are already kinda used to everything. Now about the only thing we have to get used to is both our last names being the same. And thanks Jul, you all kick ass!!!

Funny story, my dad's ex wife never gave up the name she took, while his current wife/my mom never took the last name. So I have my mom's last name, while my half-sister's half-brother has my dad's last name, even though they aren't blood related!

But I digress. Congratulations to you Platinum, and I hope you have many wonderful years with your wife.

And because my mom kept her maiden name, I have BOTH of my parents' names. It leads to some interesting conversations sometimes. Most people just tell me to find a girl in a similar situation and leave our kids with four last names, but every once in a while there's a gem. e.g. my physics lab partner this term said "Can I put my last name twice, too? Just to be fair?" And when people ask me to spell it, they get halfway and say "Wait, what? HYPHEN?" And it gets cut off on all the government forms.

So, it works out.

Isn't the last name just hyphenated in that case? So you'd have, for example, Mary Smith-Williams or something ridiculous like that.

I once knew of someone with a hyphenated first name and a hyphenated last name. Personally, I think that's a bit excessive

I hate my legal last name from my dad, so I stopped using it in many contexts in mid-2008 or so I plan to get my name legally changed next year to the name I want
