The verb "to Google" has entered the common vernacular, but do very many Julers use anything else?

I often alternate between Google and Yahoo!, although I wish the latter would save my results-per-page preferences, as I tend to prefer a few huge pages rather than many tiny ones

However, for gaming Web sites, I prefer dmoz.org I've found that Google tends to return almost nothing but large general gaming Web sites when I'm looking for a specific game, and I'm usually looking for the small '90s-style independent Web sites Like I search for (say) "Age of Empires" and get the official Web site, some very large fan sites, and a lot of IGN, GameSpy, MobyGames, etc. Dmoz.org is a human-edited directory that can be searched, so it doesn't have nearly as many Web sites, but it has a lot of the independent ones I want

Similar case over here, other search engines (Bing for one, but especially the crap ones that only exist on official-looking URLs) don't appeal as much to me. And I did try to use Bing a few times, it's just not what I'm looking for.

Hmm, the principal at our High School tells us to "bing" stuff rather than the rest of the staff that tells us to "google" stuff. xD

I don't want to learn all the new advanced commands for other search engines. So, I'll stick with google.

I used to use Yahoo for searching when I was... like, 10. Now it's all Google.

I don't know any search engines other than Google.

Really, it's so dominant I forgot all my other options.

Though I have an old "Internet 101" from 1997 where IE 3.0 was just released and Google didn't exist yet. Ah the good times.

Death to Google and their hypocrisy!

...

I use Yahoo, but Microsoft's f#$king that up, so perhaps I'll have to use Altavista. For a while there I was hoping they were gonna just leave it alone and change the behind the scenes part.

I also hate Bing.

I just want my results, and I don't want to profit Google with them.

I use Google Search, Google News, GMail, and sometimes, albeit less commonly, Google Blogs (blogger)

I never liked Yahoo or anything else...

I've used Yahoo, Altavista and a few others ... about 10 years ago, before finding Google

I haven't really looked elsewhere since then, or even tried Bing, since Google still usually works fine

Yeah, I remember when Yahoo! and AltaVista were some of the biggest search engines Some of them would use an implicit OR in searches of multiple words, which was annoying because if you typed, say, "San Francisco" (without the quotes) you'd get Web sites with just "San" or just "Francisco".

Counting the past 6 or so years, I can count the number of times I've used search engines other than Google on one hand.

Yeah, I'm a google guy.
I honestly can't remember ever using anything else.
Having it at the top of my browser counts for a lot of that as well though.

At least a few years ago you had choices, although Yahoo and Altavista were usually the best ones.

Then Google... took over. :\

(And at least it's nice to not have to check 4-5 different search engines while trying to find something.)

I started with Yahoo (and sometimes hotbot), but eventually moved onto Google. I don't know when this happened, but at some point, I started getting into the habit of putting my search terms in quotes. It usually helps center the results around what I actually want.

Also, almost everyone in high school would use ask.com, which was kinda amusing. I imagine these people all grew up to be the students here on campus that use IE to check facebook and myspace, even though the default browser on all of the campus computers (classrooms, computer labs, etc) is firefox.

I use Yahoo and Google.

But google is better for me.

EDIT: On second thought, they're almost just the same... Except that google shows the page using your country's local language, which i hate. I dunno... I just dont like reading Filipino text, and i prefer english.

But google is better if we'll talk about searching...
