Um... I picture it as a message board on the Internet.
This topic is kind of interesting to me because I've always pictured individual people on message boards--I usually associate my mental image of them with their avatar, but if they don't have an avatar I'll end up subconsciously making something up--but I've never actually pictured communities on the Internet as anything but. ____________________ |

Paulguy's Post configuration I always think of internet forums and chat rooms is a kind of office style room: White walls, drop ceiling, grey or blue berber carpet or possibly that weird patterned tile you see in schools. The room might contain chairs and tables and I almost always picture a water cooler in the corner. And people can just modify the room and materialize whatever they please. Ops/admins carry clubs.  ____________________ |

| Thanks to that old comic, I've always seen message boards as a sort of office building with the offices being the threads, and the floors being the forums. Other than that distinction, it's pretty much exactly how paulguy pictures it, but without the clubs. |

I always thought of it as some type of city-like community, with each thread in a different area and with a different look. I can't describe it really, though. I just think of it as something other than a board.
