Now some people that are apologist's seem to think this is just some rogue employees.

Lets help you out with some facts as someone told me earlier.

This all started with a 20 year old girls (Hannah) jogging and having an idea...... 1 girl.... Then she pulled in a 25 year old film maker. They come together and create an idea. They spent around $1300 of there own money on this and they have willingly given up receipts and any information people are asking for. The fact that some people are saying that the Republican party funded them is a complete lie. Why would you lie? To cover for the corruption in acorn or make excuses for people in government that are in bed with this organization. I listen to pretty much all the conservative radio shows and we have no idea about this until 09/09/2009.

The sting idea: The girl Hannah is a hooker who is trying to get a house to use in her business. The guy plays her boyfriend (pimp) says that they are trying to (This is the most important part.) bring 13 south American underage girls to the U.S. to use this house as a brothel for them. This is essentially sexual slavery and not one of these people in these videos even flinched! If this happened once I would understand but:

All videos and transcripts can be found at Big Government,

First tape:
Baltimore, Maryland
One office I could say is an employee problem. Acorns first reaction was that this was a 1 time thing and that they tried this at other office and failed. These By the way they said DC, New York, and others were tried but these two kids failed. Really? They did?

Second Tape:
Washington, D.C.
Uh Oh! There's more. Hmmm. 2 more people and instead of investigating there practices they fire the employees again? Then they start coming after the young kids? Don't you think you should take care of the "Child sex slavery" issue that your employees don't seem to have a problem with before you start saying you are going to sue the reporters who filmed the crime.

Third Tape:
New York, New York
Same as the last two. Why are not one of these employees having a problem? Three times and there is a trend. This is the second city where the CEO of Acorn said they failed. By the way these employees still have not been fired.

Fourth Tape:
San Bernadino, CA
These two employees not only do the same but the women makes up a story about killing her husband, and says he used to run an escort service.

Fifth Tape:
San Diego, CA
This tape is the worst so far. This employee actually is working with the guy to find the best way to get the underage girls over the border. The employee tell's the guy to get them to Tiajuana, Mexico (I think that's the city) beause he has friends there that can get them over the border.

Both reporters say more tape is coming.

What does this have to do with anyone other then Acorn? Obama worked at Acorn for a long time and taught them all about recruitment. There are several people in DC both congress and the whitehouse that are closely connected to them. We need to be asking questions and getting answers from them. We should be demanding as citizens a full investigation of Acorn, SEIU (which was founded by Acorn), and all government ties.

So that some of you know I would be demanding the same thing of a republican administration. This above is unacceptable when they are receiving federal funds. I know they have been cut-off, but before all this they were under investigation in 14 states for voter fraud and 60 Acorn employees are in jail. Don;t you think that there's smoke so we should be looking for the fire?

So, are the men in black helicopters going to pick you up for suggesting the investigation now?

Because I don't really see how anyone except those who share your views could hope to civilly debate with you with how you present your point of view.

:p

What is the heck is Acorn? I feel embarrassed for not even knowing it existed until reading this thread. Sounds like a disturbingly seedy operation.

I think he might just be pointing out that Dryden's way of trying to start a discussion/incite thoughtfulness? is somewhat .. conflagratory. That's my personal view on it, just from reading the way he writes, not really anything to do with the subject matter. As in, I don't follow news much, so I don't really know too much about what he's talking about, but he's coming off as being kind of antagonistic. Thus, anyone who strongly disagrees with his point of view will have a hard time not responding in the same tone. That's just a guess. *shrug*

bit. If you could give us links to read so that we can read the information for ourselves and form our own conclusions, that'd be more helpful than hearing anecdotal evidence. Simplifying and summing up is fine if you're just trying to get the point across quickly, but backing it up with other documentation is always better if you want to have an intelligent discussion about something, especially if you're trying to change or form someone's opinion on something.

A thought.. if someone in the Republican party actually was funding these two, do you really think they'd broadcast it on any sort of radio show? Seriously? I could be misinterpreting what you were trying to say, but that just sounds absurd.

From reading what you've written, most of it honestly sounds kind of.. ridiculous. I can believe that the employees just started 'messing with' these people. Most of the people I know would probably tell them some kind of stupid made up crap if they were faced with that situation, treating it as the farce it probably felt like. Would you take two "kids" (as you refer to them as) seriously?

Was it stupid to do what they did? Yes. Is it possible that some of the responses were actually legitimate? Sure. But responding to a young "couple," (pimp and hooker, or otherwise) saying you killed your husband? Please. I also find it strange that they've only released edited footage (from what I've gathered). I can understand maybe a film maker wanting to play with it to make it more dramatic, only show what they want to show, etc., but if it's really so bad, shouldn't they be more than happy to hand over the full, uncut footage?

Like I said, I haven't done too much reading about this. Maybe I shouldn't be posting based on that, but ... eh. One uninformed opinion likely won't change much here. :p

I did find this interesting though:

Following the release of the Washington, D.C. and New York videos, the Senate passed amendments to pending bills to exclude ACORN from Housing and Urban Development and Interior Department funding. The House of Representatives subsequently voted an amendment that denies all federal funds to the group. New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced an investigation to ensure that state grants given to ACORN were properly spent on tax-preparation and loan-counseling services. Concurrently, New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn suspended all ACORN grants sponsored by City Council members as Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes conducted an investigation. On September 16th, 2009, ACORN announced that they were suspending advising new clients and beginning an internal review process, stating that the conduct was "the indefensible action of a handful of our employees".
It kind of sounds like people are already asking, and that the funds aren't going anywhere for a while. :p

First,

I apologize to everyone if the tone of my posts come off that way. My intention was the opposite and if we were across the table from each other having this debate you would come away with a different opinion which is why I hate debating online and not face to face.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about in this paragraph, but you've got this from listening to conservative radio? Partisan radio is full of screaming, rhetoric, exaggeration, and lies, regardless of whether or not it is liberal, libertarian, conservative, communist, or anything.

This definitely happened and it is very inappropriate, but ACORN has not only fired the people who behaved badly, but have refused to admit more people to the group until this has been dealt with.

This is where I get pissed off. This is an absolute lie. Obama has NEVER been employed by ACORN; he once gave two speeches, unpaid, to Chicago's ACORN branch, and he once, as a lawyer, defended many groups, including ACORN, in a civil rights case, which they won. Obama has never been on ACORN's payroll. Obama has never supported ACORN in any way other than his job with his law firm. Obama has definitely been supported by ACORN; he was officially endorsed by the organization. This endorsement means nothing, though. Anyone can endorse anyone else. Fact check; don't just listen to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity. Read.

There are none! People in Washington have even been voting to get ACORN's funding removed; even states which don't fund ACORN at all have been voting to remove state funding for them (Tim Pawlenty, I'm looking at you). It's a madhouse where people aren't even paying attention to what's going on.

Being under investigation for voter fraud is not the same thing as committing voter fraud. Who reported and rejected these fraudulent voter registration forms? ACORN did. Who reported the employees committing the fraud, putting them in jail? ACORN did. David Iglesias got fired from his job as U.S. attornies because he refused to indict ACORN on a fraud that it didn't commit.

ACORN's been massively slandered by the right because it seeks to help poor people (who tend to be liberal-democrats) vote. It's been slandered because it wants minimum raise to go up. It's been slandered because ACORN itself is a leftist organization. ACORN also helped greatly the citizens of New Orleans after Katrina, where the Bush government failed. The work that ACORN has done has mostly been completely innocent and positive, and it really sucks that they're being heavily demonized for the bad actions of a handful of employees (that, again, they reported themselves).

I liked the part where they pretty much damned the editing, proving that there is pretty significant doubt as to just how honest the video recordings were.
