SMG Red Star > SM64 Wing Cap > Raccoon > Cape.
I like the raccoon/tanooki slightly more than the cape because I usually hold the jump button during a jump automatically, and sometimes I don't want to fall slowly.

I love using the cape more than the leaf(Or racoon). Though I did use the Pwing in a few levels back then(Yes, autoscrolling in World 8 as well as World 8 level 1...)

I only used the P-Wing in Bowser's castle, just to glitch to the other side of the final boss room. It supposedly changed something in Bowser's behavior, but I never noticed...
