I started playing Metroid Prime 1, and sometimes, the targeting reticle turns yellow, and it moves me in one direction, and I can't move out of it until I do a full 180 half the time. What the fuck is this bullshit, and how do I put an end to it?

Sincerely,
Retro gamer pissed over the fact that I can't play Metroid Prime on my Wii with a goddamned GC controller. Fucking Nintendo with their heads up their asses yet again.

You can't use a Game Cube controller on your Wii?? That's the only way you can play Game Cube games on the Wii. SSB Brawl is the only Wii game I know of that you can use the Game Cube controller to play. As far as the first 2 Metroid Prime games, Game Cube controllers is the only one you can use.

The prime trilogy is a Wii version of all 3 games packed into one.

Also, Trilogy fixed lots of speed running tricks and such, but it got shit loads of other, new glitches. :/

No, dude, heads up; Metroid Prime Trilogy? Y'know, that bastardized collection that was reformatted for the Wii, and therefore, requires the use of the Wii-mote (more like Wii-piece-of-fucking-cowshit, m i rite?), and also, therefore, disallows use of the Gamecube controller. So, I'm stuck using the shitty Wiidildo for a game made on the Wii (fancy that).

The conundrum is that, like I said, sometimes, the targeting reticle turns yellow, and it moves me in one direction, and I can't move out of it until I do a full 180 half the time. I don't know what's causing this, but I want to kill it.

I own MP:T and I haven't seen any yellow targetting reticles. Maybe your battery is low?

I don't have the trilogy ... but I have Prime 3, and I'd get that behavior sometimes if there was a lot of wireless interference or a lot of light in the room. Sometimes, when holding the Wiimote sideways, I'll still have a cursor moving around on the screen from a reflection or something.

Blah, Whine, Cry. Take your Wii hating to another thread. If it's what I think it is, it's called you're remote isn't in the sensors range. If it's happening when you're pointing directly at the TV, then it is probably light interference. If you are having trouble turning fast enough and it's causing you to go off-screen, then try setting your control setting to Advanced, which will make the bounding box the smallest possible.

Gotta love the flak you give this game though, considering the stellar reviews it's getting. Honestly though, you don't even deserve the game since you hate having a unique, fun, and superior control method. Of course, anything that can possibly go wrong (Even if it's your fault for not reading the fucking manual) upsets you. How can you handle TVs? When light glares on them it must REALLY irritate you! More like Tele-fucking-shit-vision MIRITE? Televisions are for watching, not looking at reflections! Why can't it just work like intended?

Now that you said it, I think it is interfere with the sunlight. I think I had the same problem with LoZ:TP, back when I was playing it in a room where the TV was situated just in front of two huge windows.

Christmas lights do it too, oddly enough.

Generally, any light. To be honest, my Wii works perfectly at night, rather than during the day

Alternatively, you could return the game and buy the whole set of GC versions for pretty cheap. You can't play Corruption with GC controller, however.

Any form of light causes that. Made playing MP3 a pain before cause it would always freak out on me.

Sorry, I was unaware of the Trilogy package that was out. I just have the first two game cube games and corruption. I haven't had any problems with the Wii mote yet. If anything its made the newest Metroid game more interesting.

Most likely an interference issue; sounds like something that happened once while I was playing MP3.

The wiimote has generally made me unhappy as well; I was able to play MP3 probably because there's no such thing as a good console shooter anyway and using the wiimote to aim is leagues better than most of the existing solutions, such as the popular dual-analog system.

But most games that seem at first to have good wiimote integration simply don't, as soon as precise timing is important. Boom Blox, for example, was pretty fun but controlling the strength of your throw is really frustrating. I was having a good time with Zack & Wiki right up until you were supposed to play a rhythm game by shaking the wiimote, at which point I experienced a new personal record for nerd rage.

But I would say aiming is the thing the wiimote does best. The irritating thing about Prime 3 is the boss design, not the control scheme. Still, learning new controls for a familiar game can be really irritating, so I guess I see where you're coming from. Unless it's your first time playing the Prime series, in which case I guess SnT nailed it. Except for the part where he implies stellar reviews mean a game shouldn't get flak, which is pretty hilariwrong.

Trilogy is good to get the games all at once if you haven't already, but seriously, all it does is plaster on the Wiimote scheme.

If you're a veteran of the old ones who wasn't crippled by the GCN scheme, you aren't missing too much by not buying it.

I actually enjoyed the control scheme more than the GC version. GC felt a bit clunky for me... then again, Wii has it's downsides.

I'm starting to think that the cause of the problem might be the Sensor bar's location; it's in front of my TV, sitting just below it on my dresser, so, I dunno; maybe it's where the pointer is heading, or something. Still... I dunno; I'll try to figure this thing out.

And, no; I don't the Wii. I just hate its remote. Mine's had sensitivity and control problems since day 1.

The only problem I've had, is that laughable excuse for a d-pad. To me it's incomprehensible how anyone could possibly find games like Mega Man 9 better on Wii than PS3.

Arguably. :/

I have nothing against the wii per se, but the game cube controls (for prime series) are just so much easier to use and play with.

Um. Isn't MM9 compatible with the Classic Controller?
