Can be worse though. Could be a crappy speed that I'm getting right now because I have to have my desktop connect to my hub then to my laptop which connects wirelessly to a hub that sometimes disconnects at random for being crappy. Sometimes disconnects very briefly for it. =\

As BMF and I discovered last night, it's actually just really, really major send packet loss. I was getting up to 50% at times. (Skype said "Send packet loss: 50%/200%", it was weird)

It'd be nice if I could just could get a good connection for once

It's more of the feeling of "oh, hey, I have two networks here that are both high speed and neither one works right".

With Dialup, you can keep trying to connect until it works. Cable, you can only sit and wait and do nothing.

Dial-up is ugh. For browsing, alright. For downloading oh god it is bad. I couldn't download a lot of things due to dial-up when I had it. Now I have higher speed and I can't find anything to download besides VG music.

Kinda happens at first.

I have a 20gb download limit, and some months, I'll just come ~10mb away from going overboard, and some months, I'm a day from resetting and can't find anything to download (and have a few gbs left)

I don't think I have a limit.
Not that I know of at least. Parents stream TV and movies (usually pirated), I download large simfile packs and music, sister browses all day.

Upload sucks, though, but that could just be my connection setup and the router being dumb.

I had a 15GB cap and consistently blew through it every month, thanks to BitTorrent. They didn't care except the time I (not knowing about any cap) hit 100GB in a month.

Heh... thankfully I have an ISP that has no cap (except they're slower than most providers... however they're ludicrously reliable save for a few instances.)

Considering this connection can do no more than 200MB a day, I'd be surprised if I could get more than 4GB a month.

I've done 1.5GB in a single session on a 56K connect, however.

Well, you could probably stay connected for that long. I couldn't. I had to free up the phone, someone else needed the Internet, or my 4 hours my ISP allowed me to connect at a time came up. Let's just say I hated that 4 hour thing. It was a "security issue."
