Parents bought me a Gameboy for my 5th birthday and I fell in love with it. The rest is history!

Hey, who am I to complain when my parents went out on a summer afternoon when I was 4 years old to buy me a NES?

(Or who am I to blame... )

We had a NES and later got a Gameboy, and I naturally found them and decided to play with them.

I don't know where the NES went, but we still have the Gameboy to this date. It's a bit old now (B&W still) but the nostalgia...

My sister and my father, although they were pretty casual. My sister allowed me to play Donkey Kong on the old Coleco Vision when I was very young, and playing some things with my father on the NES is what got me into gaming overall.

Ended up being obsessed with Nintendo, and the game I was initially most afraid of as a kid (Super Metroid) became my all-time favorite.

Unfortunately, I don't play even a quarter of the amount of games as I used to, nor do I bother with total completion or challenges. Sort of wish I still had that kind of interest.

My elder brother owned both a NES and a SNES even back before I was born, so he naturally taught me his ways as soon as I could correctly hold a controller.

Of course, it was my parents who gave him his gaming systems, so one could say that it's their fault; however, you could continue tracking back ad infinitum, so I would really give my brother the credit.

My parents got my oldest brother an Atari way long time ago, probably to keep his entertained. When I came along, I just rooted around in my brother's stuff and stole their games. My parents eventually bought me my own classic Gameboy to keep me off of theirs, and I got hooked.

My parents aren't gamers whatsoever. They merely bought it for me probably because it seems like something I'd enjoy. Lol. Now they're actively trying to wean me off the games. At least they can't do much while I'm off at college.

Shame on them.

My parents were fine with me playing video games a lot, considering they played them so much too Occasionally I lost privileges as a punishment though. I remember one time when I couldn't play video games myself, but I could still help my mom through Myst

So we're going to be the generation that plays video games in the nursing home when we're 80 years old, right? :\

Probably, yeah

In any case, my mom became quite the Tetris Attack addict. Even to this day she plays Puzzle League on the DS I gave her. Nowadays for her it's either that or Clubhouse Games... both of which she is not very skilled at. Sad, considering she used to be able to beat me silly at TA...

I believe so. Like how elderly people now grew up during the early years of TV and they watch TV a lot.

Your mom needs to meet my mom. (She's also working her way through Henry Hatsworth and Starfy as well.)

Hmm...is saying that I don't remember NOT having video games an option? Even when I was four back then (1995) there was still an SNES to play on. Maybe an NES as well, but I can't remember that part.
If I have to make a guess though, I'm going to say that my brother probably asked for the system in the first place and I just followed suit. Or maybe it's my dad who indirectly owns the NES that we have(but it's in the closet). O hey, did I mention a Commodore 64? He has one of those. In storage. (I think that if we ever got all of the old crap (that belongs to my mom) out of his room he would feel like setting it back up, but that's a guess.) But for now, he's content playing handheld Yahtzee and Poker on the computer since his eyesight has gone down.

My mother had an NES in... 1993 or 1994? I forget.

I'd watch her play Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and a few other games I can't quite remember. One thing we used to do on Sundays was that she'd play SMB3 for hours while I'd watch. Good times, those days.

I picked up on SMB3 myself one day, and I guess it evolved from there. I was always fond of Duck Hunt and Tetris 2 especially, though.

I remember Duck Hunt. I had a highly advanced cheating technique called "put the light gun very close to the TV" I think if someone else was playing you could also use the gamepad to move the duck around to confuse them.

Tetris 2, I didn't like very much. I prefer Dr. Mario and the original Tetris

I've been a gamer since I was 3 when I first played Super Mario Brothers. My parents are both gamers and had an NES/SNES. We used to take turns playing Super Mario Brothers 3 (among other games) and we'd all curse that goddamned fish from world 3 together.

My mom isn't as much of a gamer as she used to be--the last game I remember her really playing seriously was Ocarina of Time. Nowadays, she just mainly plays random casual games and stuff on Facebook.
My dad still plays non-casual games from time to time, though. I got him to play Symphony of the Night the other night but I don't think he really cared for it. He likes the Mother series.

I think I got myself into videogames. The earliest I remember playing videogames was playing Blaster Master at my grandmother's house. Ever since then: I was playing videogames like no other.

Although my mother hated videogames. It actually got me good grades in school. Final Fantasy 3 (SNES) literally tought me how to read!

The fish in World 3 isn't that bad... especially if you have a Fire Flower. :\

Learn to adapt.
