'Cuz we have so many of them now, but only a handful come to mind. Then I see other people use them and wind up fumbling at the keyboard to try to figure out how they did it.

Unless they're supposed to be secret, heh.

Quoting also works to see what a person typed to make something appear. It's what I usually do if I see an unfamiliar smiley .

I only use a few different smileys anyway Mostly the Asian-style ones except , whose Asian equivalent doesn't turn into an image so I use the Western style.

There are a lot more now than in the old days

Hm, seems I lost it in the field of similar-looking text links.

Thanks for showing me.

Crash different. Something of an injoke, if you will, not meant to be taken seriously.

Hell, there are too many people here to crack jokes about Macs much any more, though I still loathe them.

I don't know much about Macs other than that they're freakin' expensive.

Many schools I've been to used Macs, and having been raised on Windows I had trouble getting used to stuff like having to hold down the mouse button for the entire time within a menu

uh, was this like OS 6? I grew up with macs and I don't remember ever having to do that.

I switched to PC a couple of years ago and haven't looked back.

They were old Macs that I used in the mid-'90s at a school, so they could have been really old.

Technically, a Mac is a type of PC, despite Apple's ads PC stands for Personal Computer, not Windows Computer

So I'm not the only one who realized how stupid that concept is. Thank god.

...I always thought I was missing something there. Another obscure definition for PC or something.

Or even when they switched to PowerPC processors about 15 years ago ... PowerPC (but of course, they called it Power Macintosh)

MacOS 7 too, I definitely remember my old one being that way ... although it's different on emulator for some reason

oh huh. I remember using OS 7, I guess I mentally blocked out that detail in favor of fonder memories of the PowerPC.
I'm not being sarcastic, I loved the old macs. changing everything with ResEdit was just a delight.

I used to think that Apple computers were only sold to schools. Every school computer I had seen for a long time was Apple, and at home my dad bought other brands such as Commodore and Tandy, and later weird off-brands of Windows computers. My dad's work had mostly Windows machines and at least 1 Unix computer (that was the first time I had heard of Unix).

I thought it was like "You give apples to teachers, so you have Apple computers in schools" Then if they used a program and I liked it, I'd have to hope there was a version for Windows if I wanted to use it at home.
