Me PM
My 80 hours of community service was filled by helping out around the school, for example fixing hardware (old Pro-Logic LED board) or just running the TV/Audio/Video crews.

I also got free access to every entrance-by-fee event because I ran the audio, and because of where the booth was I got the best seat in the auditorium!

cigarette butts are so minor it's easy to think that flicking one won't hurt anything. many people don't even consider it littering.
they make up 1/4th of the garbage san francisco cleans up from gutters and sidewalks.

Litter bothers me in general. People around here don't care much about the planet and they let it get covered in trash. Yuck. I always try to pick up after myself, although I have lost trash to the wind and such

Well, the problem would be solved if there were ashtrays all over the place. If someone's finished a cigarette and there's no ashtrays or receptacles or anything like that around, what are they supposed to do?

(Although it WOULD be funny to see people walking around with a butt trying to find a place to dispose of it.)

I actually didn't need to do any community service for my school in order to graduate.

And I'll be honest. I'm a pretty selfish person when I am, but I can be very generous when I want to. So having to have done community service wouldn't really make me like helping other people because I just don't feel like doing it.

I remember one of my math teachers back when I was in high school wanting to do this community service thing, which largely consisted of us (the students) playing bingo. I'm not sure how that was serving the community.

Math teachers are supposed to be logical!

This does not compute! D:

To be honest, I'm not sure that it was her idea to begin with.

Her class was a bit weird. I remember learning a hand dance for matrix multiplication Not as weird as a lot of science teachers I've had though.

My freshman math teacher taught me a song to remember the quadratic equation. Works, because I still remember it.

I learned a song with all 50 US states in alphabetical order. Then, many years later, one of those crazy science teachers had an extra credit problem on a test (IIRC a pretty hard test) which was: Name as many US states as you can in alphabetical order. It gave my grade a nice boost, but what do the names of the states have to do with science?

Still exercises your mind. And it's extra credit, so I assume you'd get 100% even if you didn't know it.

I'd probably be able to do it but I'd need a good 15 minutes left after the test was done.

Could be worse. The extra credit in our P.E. final was writing down the school song, which was prominently displayed on a wall near the bleachers we were working on.

Since you couldn't get up aside to hand in a paper, you'd better hope you weren't nearsighted.

You can probably guess how that went.

Especially since, in my experience, P.E. classes usually don't let you wear glasses

My P.E. class in high school had tests on the rules of sports. I don't usually watch sports on TV and wasn't on any of the school teams, so I found that hard. One that pretty much always was on there was how a game was divided, like into quarters, halves, etc.

And that would be the point where I'd tell them to go fuck themselves. I can't see shit without my glasses, just colors and really blurry shapes. If I didn't put Transitions on them, I'm sure my prescription would be strong enough to burn grass. ._.

Speaking of which, I actually have to take a full year of PE at my college. Not looking forward to it at all. I'll probably just skip it until my last year or something

PE at college?

My school at least was easy on us, just 1 semester of PE required in high school It happened to be my first semester of 9th grade, so I haven't had PE since January 2002.

Personally, I wouldn't question the logic behind an institution where even a Humanities degree requires an inordinate amount of higher mathematics.

Then again, our campus is heavily oriented towards Engineering anyway, so...

At my school, an engineering or comptuer science degree, or any other degree, requires a ridiculous level of humanities. How does reading Madame Bovary help one program computers, anyway?

My Bachelor's in Computer Engineering requires 15 credits of Humanities and 12 credits in free electives, besides two years of English and one year of Spanish (which I happily circumvented thanks to the magic of APs). But, that's what foreign language classes are for!

Hey, anything to get out of writing literary essays.
