This is somewhat hard for me. Sometimes I get enough sleep at night, and sometimes I wake up every two hours. Thus comes the morning challenge of the day: Getting up out of bed and soaking in that ray of sunshine!

...I hate it.

First off, 80% of the time I am asleep in my bed, I have a hard time staying asleep. So me getting up in the mornings a very big task. Now yes, I am kinda ill in the mornings. But if no one bothers me for the first thirty minutes en route to the coffee pot. Then I am fabulous. After that it's smooth sailing. Before getting out of bed? Alarm clock goes off, I smack my alarm, and I usually lay there with my eyes half open for a good 5 minutes (Sometimes less).

This is the point in the morning where I wish I went to bed earlier. But it's all over, and it's time to go to work.

Thankfully today is a holiday, so I am alive and feeling fresh. Paid time off!

How do you guys go about in getting up out of bed? Ill? Hop out of bed? Exercise?

Get up... in the morning?

Try afternoon, bud. I rarely get up before 11:00 am. If you're about to ask why I'm up at 7:04 am right now, it's because I didn't go to sleep yet. I might not at all tonight...

I'm used to waking up in the mornings. I used to sleep in all day until I got this job. Now it feels good waking up in the mornings.

I almost always wake up after 6 to 7 hours of sleep. I then head to the computer to wake myself up.

If I have to wake up any earlier, then I'm very cranky.

5:45 AM. I wake up. Take a quick shower. Eat. Out the door and heading towards DC. (Arlington, really, for those who know VA well enough...) That's every morning except Wed. which happens to be my University's off day.

I'm cursed in that when I'm up, I'm up; it's extremely hard for me to get back to sleep once I've been woken up, either of my own accord or of someone else waking me up. So I guess it's not a problem for me to get up in the mornings... then again, I haven't had to do so for a while, so I've been staying up until insane hours in the morning and waking up during the afternoon (like 3PM-ish). It feels sort of crappy, but I'm not doing anything, so...

When I was still in school I used to be grumpy about getting up in the morning, but I knew I had to so I just dealt with it. I don't have any specific advice in that regard, but splashing water in your face is a nice--albeit annoying--way to wake yourself up in the morning most of the time.

I recently started going to school again. Before I did, I had huge problems getting up early.

Now I can get up every morning at 5 AM pretty much without any problems at all. It's kind of weird, but I'm not complaining

I used to wake up at around 7 every day for school for years.

Then, college happened. Instead of starting at 8:40 like high school, I usually wouldn't have to be in class until 10 or later, so I got in the habit of going to bed later and waking up later. My parents both go to bed very early, so I didn't stay up much later than them in high school, but for college I was away from them and didn't have to worry about waking them up. Then, the more advanced classes within my major were usually held in the evenings and I usually wouldn't even get home until like 8 at night, sometimes 9 or 10 or even later, so I'd stay up way late, often to 2 in the morning. My classes were evening so I didn't have to get up in the morning anyway. I got very bad at getting up in the morning and now I often stay in bed for quite a while before getting up.

My plan to rectify the situation involves moving to an earlier time zone

I have to say... That's such a good feeling knowing you're up before everyone else. It's almost a thing of pride. I just love to boast about it sometimes.

I think my dad would get up before that, like 4:30 in the morning. Of course, it's his fault for living so far from work, which IIRC started for him at 7

Now with 60% more chance of spontaneous combustion.

My head hurts like hell and I am too tired to do anything about it.
But it's always like that...

Also I wake up around 4pm becouse I go to bed in the morning. The only problem is that I get awake easilly and can't get back to sleep becouse of what I said above.

Add to that constant fucking music that's been on all day until a certain part of the night starting again.

Yeah, when I go to bed later and later it's hard for me to go to bed earlier because I'm not tired enough to go to sleep. So the only thing I can do is deprive myself of some sleep for a while

0545, every day, bio-clock or something. But when I need to get to work by 0700 so I can get off at 1500 it all works out. And with class now it makes it even more vital to get in early so I'm not staying super late for the hours I miss while I'm in class.

I'm usually in bed by 10pm, so waking up before 6am is pretty reasonable. staying up all night drives me crazy, there's nothing to do.

At least until a few years ago, I often stayed up until the early morning (like 6:00 AM) and got up at 3:00 PM, and switched back and forth between that and "normal" schedules for work/school (almost like sudden timezone changes) without much trouble ... as long as I got enough sleep, of course

Now it's not as bad, but I still tend to stay up until 2:00 AM on weekdays and take a few minutes to get up

I still need to devise a strategy to make me wake up. I don't have a working one yet.

I get up at 5:15 most days because I have to be at work by 6am. Then I work until either 11 or noon and ... usually I take some sort of nap in the afternoon because I stay up until 3am a lot. I get up twice. But an alarm clock with two alarms generally works for this purpose. I wish I could become tired enough to actually go to bed at a reasonable time like 11:30 or something, but I am always wide awake until like 2:30am.

Usually I go to be at around 4 to 4:30am. This is mainly because I get home from work at 10:30pm and I can never sleep as soon as I get home.

Since school is starting tomorrow it means that I'm probably going to start going to sleep at around 1-2AM and getting up at about 7AM. When homework and studying take up the majority of my day there's no way that I'm going to go to sleep early .

On weekends it's completely different though, last night I went to bed at about 7:30AM and I just woke up now . I'm going to miss summer break .
